What Is a Scorigami Bet In Sports Betting?

As mentioned, you are betting that a unique score, one that has never happened in an NFL game, either happens or doesn’t happen in Super Bowl 57.

This has only been around for seven years, the work originating from journalist Jon Bois.

The NFL has seen 1,075 Scorigami’s, and recent rule changes have only upped the possibilities. With the extra-point kick now a more testy 33-yard attempt, analytics usually recommend teams to consider a 2-point conversion (around since 1994). Along with the safety, it’s another mechanism to tack on a few points.

More recently, it became possible to score a single point. If a team attempting a PAT or 2-point conversion after a touchdown surrenders a safety, the defense gets the point (a missed, fumbled or intercepted PAT return). As this score can only happen after a TD, the scores 1-0, 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, 5-1, and 7-1 can never happen in an NFL game, though 6-1 is a possibility. A 1-pointer has yet to happen in NFL history.

There were three Scorigami’s during the regular season. In Week 4, the Seahawks beat the Lions 48-45 in a never-before-seen score. It happened again in Week 15, as Dallas dumped the Colts 54-19, and in Week 16, when the Bengals beat the Patriots 22-18.

The NFL Scorigami website has a full archive of every final score that has been achieved in league history, along with the scores that have yet to be reached.

Super Bowl Scorigami Odds

A Scorigami has happened three times in Super Bowl history, and each of them feature the Denver Broncos, on the losing end each time.

The most recent was in Super Bowl 48, when the Seattle Seahawks routed the Broncos 43-8 and thescore went for a detour on the first offensive snap of the game. Manny Ramirez’s snap sailed over Peyton Manning’s head and eventually through the end zone for two points.

In Super Bowl 24, Joe Montana eviscerated the Broncos’ secondary, as San Francisco crushed Denver 55-10. The only blemish for ‘Frisco was an early missed extra point from Mike Cofer. That make would have knocked the Scorigami off, as 56-10 had been a previous final score.

Finally, Super Bowl 21 ended with the New York Giants downing the Broncos 39-20. The G-Men got a safety early to start messing with the scoreboard, but this Scorigami wasn’t punched until the fourth quarter.  Raul Allegre’s missed an extra point settled their score at 39 — a number hit just 55 times in NFL history.

Should You Bet the Scorigami in Super Bowl 57?

I would call this wager a found money bet.

Assuming you’ve run the gambit of wagers, including the good, old-fashioned stab at the Super Bowl odds, this is one that you might want to make and forget about, checking your ticket once the game is decided.

There’s always a chance this goes conventional, with a 20-17 score and 27-24 final — the two most common scores in NFL history. It’s also possible this one ends in a 20-11 score, one of the popular, normalish looking scores that has yet to hit in an NFL game.
