- The Ohio Casino Control Commission reported $864.2 million in sports betting handle for the month
- In ESPN BET’s first full month of operation in the state, the operator spent more than $29 million in promos and notched $70.8 million in online handle
The Ohio Casino Control Commission reported $864.2 million in Ohio sports betting handle for the month of November, its highest sports betting handle total since the Buckeye State launched sports betting in January 2023.
It was a lucrative month for the state as well, as it took in more than $13 million in sports betting tax revenue after reporting $68.1 million in taxable revenue.
While bettors flocked to state sportsbooks and online apps, ESPN BET ensured it captured a good portion of the Ohio sports betting market in its first full month of operation in the state, spending by far the most in promos than any other operator in November.
ESPN BET Aggressive in Ohio
Prior to ESPN BET’s nationwide launch, PENN CEO Jay Snowden pledged the operator would aggressively spend on promotions to ensure it could quickly capture market share in states. It has lived up to that promise in Ohio so far, as ESPN BET reported spending more than $29 million in promos for the month, nearly $19 million more than the second highest operator (DraftKings).
ESPN BET reported $70.8 million in online sports betting handle for the month, good for the third highest state total behind FanDuel and DraftKings. It also reported nearly $12 million in taxable revenue, also the third highest Ohio total for November.

FanDuel maintained its top online sports betting handle position in the state, reporting $293.2 million, nearly $18 million more than DraftKing’s reported $275.7 million. However, DraftKings edged FanDuel in terms of taxable revenue, reporting $22.5 million compared with FanDuel’s $20.9 million.
