Making their first appearance in the DI NCAA Tournament, the #13 High Point Panthers (29-5, 14-2 Big South, 17-15 ATS) are getting some love from the betting public ahead of their marchup with perennial powerhouse the #4 Purdue Boilermakers (22-11, 13-7 Big Ten, 17-16 ATS) at Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence on Thursday (12:40 pm ET). Purdue opened as an 8.5-point neutral-court favorite on Sunday and -375 chalk on the moneyline. But just hours before tip-off, the High Point vs Purdue odds have moved in favor of the Panthers.
Closing High Point vs Purdue Odds
The High Point/Purdue spread has moved a full point towards the underdogs and is now sitting at Purdue -7.5. On the moneyline, the Boilermakers have moved from -375 to -345. Similarly, High Point’s moneyline price has shrunk from +295 to +270. The total has ticked up one point from 153.5 to 154.5.

The current odds give Purdue a 77.53% implied win probability, with High Point at 27.03%. The opening odds equaled a 78.95%/25.32% split.
The March Madness public betting splits currently show High Point getting 64% of ATS handle on 66% of ATS bets. The moneyline splits are almost dead-even (52% to 48% in favor of Purdue).
High Point vs Purdue Projected Score
It’s somewhat curious to see the odds moving in favor of the underdog when each of the three main analytics sites predicts that Purdue would cover the opening spread of 8.5.
The KenPom projection for High Point vs Purdue is a nine-point Boilermaker victory, and it’s the most-bullish on the Panthers. Haslametrics has the margin at just over ten, while Torvik has it at 11 in favor of Purdue.
The most-likely rationale here is recency bias. Purdue was borderline awful down the stretch. The Boilermakers, once in contention for the Big Ten regular-season title, lost five of their last-seven regular season games, skidding to a 13-7 finish in conference play.
In the Big Ten Tournament, Braden Smith and company got past USC (76-71) before getting absolutely routed by eventual tournament-champ Michigan (86-68) in the quarterfinals.
High Point, on the other hand, has the nation’s second-longest active win streak at 14 games.
The March Madness futures still show a massive gap between the teams. In the Final Four odds, High Point is a massive +25000 longshot to win the Midwest Region. Purdue is +1100. The Boilermakers are also the 20th-favorite in the March Madness champion odds at +10000.
