Following Brian Harman’s victory at the Valero Texas Open, golf’s best head down Magnolia Lane for the first major of the year – the Masters. There are plenty of storylines entering Augusta National, including world #1 Scottie Scheffler vying for his third green jacket in four years, along with Rory McIlroy attempting to be just the sixth man to win the career grand slam. Last year, Scheffler grabbed his second Masters title by four strokes over Ludvig Aberg. Four of the last five champions have won by at least three shots, with there being no playoff since Sergio Garcia defeated Justin Rose in an epic duel in 2017.
The Masters Odds 2025
It’s no surprise that Scottie Scheffler is the +400 favorite in the 2025 Masters odds, considering he’s won two of the last three editions of the Masters. However, he has yet to taste victory in six 2025 starts. Rory McIlroy has the second shortest odds at +650 after winning the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Players Championship. 2023 champ Jon Rahm is the third choice, with two-time major champions Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa, along with Ludvig Aberg rounding out the top-six.

Ludvig Aberg Looking to Avenge 2024 Masters
Last year, Swedish phenom Ludvig Aberg very nearly became the the first Masters rookie to slip into the green jacket since Fuzzy Zoeller did it way back in 1979. He was right in the thick of things with Scottie Scheffler, until an untimely shot into the water led to a double bogey on the 11th hole Sunday. He was able to recover to end up as the runner-up to Scheffler, very nearly winning his maiden major in his debut not only at Augusta National, but in his first major start.
Past Five Masters Winners
Aberg was able to swipe his second PGA Tour victory in February at the Genesis Invitational, which was against an elite field at Torrey Pines for a signature event. There aren’t many other players who possess all the skills with few, if any, weaknesses. Three players (Scheffler, McIlroy, Rahm), have shorter odds than the friendly giant, who still sports reasonable +1800 odds to win outright. I like his chances a lot this week, especially given that his odds are more than four times of the pre-tournament fave in Scheffler.
The Masters 2025 Picks & Value Bets
- Brooks Koepka +3000: It’s hard to ever argue against Brooks Koepka, who shows up in the big events time and time again. Though he hasn’t been as sharp in his last six majors, he’s won five of them in his career, including three PGA’s and two U.S. Opens. Koepka has nearly won a green jacket on a few occasions, finishing runner-up in both 2019 and 2023. He has the most titles on LIV golf, with five, and was second two starts ago at LIV Singapore.
- Cameron Smith +5500: 2022 Open Champion Cameron Smith has had a ton of success around this track, racking up five top-10’s in his last seven attempts. That includes a tie for second in 2020, and T-3rd in 2022. In the last 24 rounds at this course, the Aussie is third in total strokes gained. He’s had a solid, if unspectacular 2025 on LIV, with nothing worse than 30th in five times teeing it up, punctuated by a T-9th Sunday at LIV Golf Miami.
- Sepp Straka +7500: Sepp Straka went to school at Georgia, and it would be fitting if the three-time winner could pick up his first major at Augusta National. He has a victory earlier in the season at the American Express, and has five top-15’s in seven starts since. In 2023, had a pair of top-10’s in majors, a T-2nd at the Open Championship and T-7th at the PGA, so he’s no stranger to leaderboards in majors.
- Maverick McNealy +14000: Making his Masters debut is Maverick McNealy, who won his first PGA Tour event late in 2024 at the RSM Classic. He’s had four top-10’s since, including a runner-up at the Genesis Invitational to Ludvig Aberg, and a tie for third at Sunday’s Valero Texas Open. He’ll be an intriguing bet to make in the ‘top debutant’ category.
