OKC Dominates Game 1 as Anthony Edwards Goes Quiet in Crunch Time

Trailing by as many as nine last in the first half (47-38), the Thunder stormed back to narrow the gap to four by halftime and blitzed the Wolves 32-18 in the third quarter before cruising to a 114-88 victory. The Thunder easily covered the spread as7.5-point home favorites.

Over bettors – and there were a lot of them -were sorely disappointing as the teams combined for just 202 points against a total of 217.5. The Game 1 total opened at just 213.0 before being bet up 4.5 points. Roughly four hours before tip-off, the NBA public betting splits showed a staggering 96% of O/U handle on the over.

Soon-to-be NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had a game-high 31 points for the Thunder in the win, including going 11-of-14 from the free-throw line.

Despite his 27 field-goal attempts and 14 free-throws, SGA still fell half a point shy of his 31.5-point O/U in Tuesday’s NBA player props.

Julius Randle had a team-high 28 for the Timberwolves in a losing effort. Leading scorer Anthony Edwards had just five of his 18 points in the second half.
