The Caitlin Clark-less Indiana Fever (12-11, 5-5 away, 11-12 ATS) travel to the Big Apple on Tuesday night to face Sabrina Ionescu and the reigning-champion New York Liberty (15-6, 10-2 home, 9-11-1 ATS) at the Barclays Center at . 8:00 pm ET.
The Liberty, who lead the Eastern Conference by 2.5 games over Atlanta and four over Indiana, are heavily favored to improve on their 10-2 record at home, laying double-digit points against the Fever.

Odds as of 12:18 pm ET, July 22. Check out SBD’s guide to see where BetMGM is legal.
Indiana has put in some highly impressive performances without Clark this year; case in point: the Fever’s 74-59 rout of the league-leading Lynx in Minnesota in the final of the Commissioner’s Cup.
But Indiana has also had its share of duds sans the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year. In their last game before the All-Star break, the Fever were embarrassed in this same spot, losing by 21 to the Liberty at the Barclays Center (98-77) in a game that was effectively decided by halftime (53-36 New York lead).
Briana Stewart (19.7 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 3.9 APG) had a 24-point, 11-rebound double-double and finished just three assists shy of a triple-double, while adding four blocks. Ionescu (18.7 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 5.5 APG) added 15 points and nine dimes with just one turnover. Kelsey Mitchell had a team high 16 points for Indiana but all five starters were at least -14 while on the floor.
The Liberty easily covered as nine-point betting favorites.

Stewart leads all players with a point total of 19.5 O/U, followed closely by both Ionescu and Mitchell at 18.5 O/U. Indiana’s Aliyah Boston (15.6 PPG, 7.6 RPG, 3.7 APG) has the highest rebound total at 7.5, despite being held to just three boards when the teams met last Wednesday.
Ionescu has the highest assist total at 5.5 O/U, which is exactly her season average, though it’s considerably lower than her 6.2 APG average last season. As mentioned, she had nine dimes and just one turnover in last week’s meeting with the Fever.
IND Fever vs NY Liberty Picks & Predictions
- Fever +11.0 (-110) at Caesars or bet365
- Ionescu over 5.5 assists (+105) at BetMGM
- Boston over 13.5 points (-113) at FanDuel
Altogether, I have three picks I like for Tuesday’s Fever/Liberty game. The first is a bet on Indiana against the spread, despite their abysmal performance last Wednesday. If this was the Fever’s first or second game sans Clark I would be warier, but it’s not. Clark has only suited up for 13 of 23 games this season and, on the whole, Indiana has been getting better at playing without their budding megastar. They dropped their first two games without Clark but are 4-4 straight-up since.
One of the biggest benefactors of Clark’s absence lately has been 2023 first-overall pick Aliyah Boston, who had a string of three straight 20-point games (without Clark) broken in Wednesday’s loss to New York, when she was held to just seven. Her point total is 13.5 across the board, but most sportsbooks have the over at -120 or shorter. FanDuel currently has it at -113.
My final pick is Ionescu to go over 5.5 assists. Excluding her first season when she was limited to just three games due to injury, the 27-year-old point guard is averaging almost exactly 6.0 AGP over her career. That number is down slightly this year, but is trending up. She’s recorded at least six assists in four of her last five games, averaging 6.8 APG over that span. She shredded the Indiana defense for nine dimes less than a week ago, and I love the value on the over at BetMGM. Ionescu is -106 or shorter to go over 5.5 assists at all other sportsbooks, yet BetMGM has her in plus-money (+105).
