All the dominoes fell my way last week. I accurately called four upsets against the spread in my college football picks. It was a great day.

Now the goal is to do it again. I always feel like I do better as the season goes on. This week, there’s a monster game in the American Conference, a Big Ten coach on the hot seat no one is talking about and another SEC team that I think is shaky.

CFB Upset Picks: South Florida at Memphis +6

There are some injury concerns on the Memphis side. Starting QB Brandon Lewis got hurt late in the Tigers’ loss to UAB and is a question mark coming into Saturday.

Both teams are 6-1, both teams are 6-1 against the spread. Memphis has won 11 in a row at home in the Liberty Bowl. I watched the end of the Memphis/UAB game, and Memphis was a yard away from tying that game.

The loser of this game has no shot at the CFP. Memphis is 9-1 in its last 10 games against the spread. South Florida has scored 228 points in the last four weeks against cupcakes. Even without Lewis, I still like Memphis with the points.

College Football Upset Predictions: Rutgers at Purdue +2.5

Rutgers gave up 750 yards in a 56-10 loss to Oregon last week. Seven hundred and fifty. Rutgers has a new AD and a new school President, and I think people are getting bored of Greg Schiano. It’s the same thing every year.

The Scarlet Knights are 3-4 against the spread, a shocking 9-1 over/under in their last 10 (teams have poured it on) and have lost four in a row.

Purdue is 2-5 and rebuilding under Barry Odom, but at least it looks like they have a plan. Boilermakers QB Ryan Browne got hurt in the loss to Northwestern and is iffy, but the vibe at Rutgers is hopeless, the vibe at Purdue is hopeful.

College Football Upset Picks: Northwestern +7.5 at Nebraska

It kind of got lost in the shuffle because it was a Friday night game, but Nebraska got wacked by Minnesota last week 24-6, giving up nine sacks. Whatever happened to Nebraska’s offensive line?

It’s obvious what’s happening at Nebraska: coach Matt Rhule is being courted by Penn State, and the players are sure he’s walking out the door.

Meanwhile, Northwestern has become one of the biggest surprises in the country at 5-2, and 5-2 against the spread. Nebraska has also failed to cover the spread in its last six games in October as a favorite. Shaky coach, shaky team, take Northwestern.

CFB Upset Predictions: Texas at Mississippi State +6.5

The last two times Texas has played on the road in the SEC, they had to go to OT to beat Kentucky, and they got clipped by Florida. I watched that Texas/Kentucky game. Blame Arch Manning all you want, but Texas can’t run the ball at all.

Mississippi State had Florida on the ropes, but a last-minute interception killed them. Florida still fired their coach. State is 8-2 in its last 10 games against the spread. I love that number, and State has covered last six games in Mississippi.

I don’t know that the Bulldogs can win, but I’ll take the points for them at home. They’re still playing hard.
