Jets vs Patriots SGP Leg #1 – Justin Fields Is Not Good

I’m going to say something that most people already know. Justin Fields is just not good. I know I’ve defended him in the past, but it’s time we all face the music. It’s sad, but it’s part of growing up.

We can point to a lot of stats, but the one that tells us all we need to know is the number of games with fewer than 100 passing yards this season. How does that even happen?

When your quarterback can’t throw the football, your team usually doesn’t score many points. It’s gotten so bad in New York that their coach hasn’t even announced a starter for tonight yet. We can only hope it’s Fields because if it is, there is no way this game will see 48.5 points. It’s just not mathematically possible.

I know the haters are going to say that the Jets just hung 27 points on the Cleveland Browns last week, but as usual, the haters are not thinking clearly. For starters, that’s not 48.5. On top of that, the Jets had a special teams touchdown in there. Even with weird scores, they didn’t get over 48.5.

In fact, the only time the Jets have been involved in a game that went for 49+ points, it was against historically bad defenses like the Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals. Other than that, we’re looking at games that barely clear 20. It hurts to say it, but an under 48.5 feels like the gift of a lifetime here.

NYJ vs NE Same-Game Parlay Leg #2 – The Patriots’ Offense Is Legit

Now is where we get a little cute. Not just a little, but a lot. It’s called reverse correlation, and it’s the hottest thing on the streets right now. Since we bought the under up to 48.5 for the game, we can now take one of the teams to score over their team total. The books will never see it coming.

Now we would never take the Jets to go over their team total, but I’m damn sure the Patriots can get over theirs.

Here’s the thing: we don’t have to take the Patriots’ “real” team total. We can buy that down to a range we like better. I settled on 21.5. When we tie that together with the under for the game, it leaves us with a +101 move. Throw on the 30% boost at FanDuel and we’re cooking with grease.
