The Troy Trojans (6-3, 4-1 in the Sun Belt) head east to face the Old Dominion Monarchs (6-3, 3-2 in the Sun Belt) for a Thursday night clash. S.B. Ballard Stadium in Norfolk plays host to a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff on Nov. 13. ESPN will broadcast the game.
I have solidified my Troy vs Old Dominion prediction and given a same-game parlay for the Thursday night battle. Additionally, I have provided the closing line.
Troy vs Old Dominion Parlay Picks
- Troy +10.5
- Over 51.5
- Total Odds: +264

Here’s why I am backing this +264 parlay:
- Troy has been an underdog four times this season. They are 3-1 against the spread and even won two games outright. Their only loss was to Memphis, a game in which Will Crowder went down with an injury.
- Old Dominion has been spotty at covering double-digit spreads this season. They have a 2-3 ATS record as 10-point favorites or more, including an outright loss to Marshall as 14.5-point favorites.
- Both teams have a 5-4 mark at hitting the over this season. In the same vein, they both are in the middle third on both scoring offense and scoring defense. The average Old Dominion game has 55.3 points scored. The average Troy game has 51.1 points scored.
Troy vs Old Dominion Prediction
- Old Dominion 31, Troy 24
After a 1-2 start, Troy answered back with five straight wins before losing their most recent game to Arkansas State. The Trojans are still alive to win the Sun Belt West as they are just one game back of Southern Miss, and they play the Golden Eagles in the final week of the season.
According to Troy reporters, both Tucker Kilcrease and Will “Goose” Crowder are slated to take snaps against Old Dominion.
Crowder played the first three games of the season before sustaining an injury versus Memphis. Kilcrease has played since, throwing nine touchdowns, including five in a huge comeback win over Texas State.
Tae Meadows has been a rock-solid bellcow for the Trojans. He averages 68.3 yards per game, and he has four touchdowns on the season, second only to Kilcrease. He has not featured much in the receiving game.
Six Trojans have between 19 and 25 catches on the season. DJ Epps leads the team with 25 catches and is in a three-way tie for the team lead with three touchdowns. Tray Taylor has been the big-play threat, leading the team with 402 yards on a robust 20.1 yards-per-catch average.
On defense, watch for the Sun Belt’s leading sack artist: Donnie Smith. Smith has six sacks with 8.5 tackles for loss. He has a pass deflection and a forced fumble. He has at least 0.5 tackles for loss in eight of nine games this season.
After a Week 1 loss to Indiana, Old Dominion got on a roll with four wins, including defeating Virginia Tech on the road. However, they stalled in road games versus Marshall and James Madison, losing by 24 and 36, respectively.
The Monarchs have bounced back with two Sun Belt wins to put them in a good position for bowl eligibility.
Sophomore signal-caller Colton Joseph has been sharp this season. He leads the Sun Belt in passing touchdowns, yards per attempt, and passing efficiency. He has also tacked on nine rushing touchdowns, including three last week.
On the downside, he has nine interceptions, including multiple picks in all of ODU’s losses.
As mentioned, Joseph is an imposing rushing threat. He leads the Monarchs in attempts, yards, and touchdowns. However, Trequan Jones is the home-run hitter of the group, leading the Sun Belt with 7.8 yards per carry.
He has been bottled up in recent weeks, but he has a pair of 100-yard games to his name this season.
Old Dominion has three receivers who have similar production. Tre Brown, Na’eem Abdul-Rahim Gladding, and Ja’Cory Thomas have each provided at least 29 catches, 532 yards, and four touchdowns on the season. Brown averages an exceptional 21.5 yards per catch.
Safety Jerome Carter is the preeminent ballhawk in the Monarchs’ secondary. He has three of the team’s eight interceptions. He also has 2.5 tackles for a loss, and he leads the team in both solo tackles and total tackles.
Troy vs Old Dominion Closing Line
The closing line has Old Dominion as a hefty home favorite. The spread ranges from -10 to -10.5 depending on the sportsbook. The total is set between 51.5 and 53 points.
Over bettors can get over 51.5 at Underdog for -118 odds. Under bettors can get under 53 at Fanatics for -115 odds.
Old Dominion bettors can get the Monarchs at -10 on the spread at Fanatics (-115 odds) or -355 on the moneyline at FanDuel. Troy bettors can get the Trojans at +10.5 on the spread at Underdog (-110 odds) or +328 on the moneyline, also at Underdog.
