College Football Upset Predictions Week 13 – Expert Underdog Picks for Nov. 22

• After a break-even performance last week, I’m back with my college football upset predictions for Week 13
• I’ve got my eyes on a couple of Sun Belt games, plus a battle in the Carolinas

Lesson learned last week, Notre Dame is probably legit. I’m staying away from the Irish for a while.

This week, I’m looking at a couple of Sun Belt Conference games, and I know the SEC schools are all playing cupcakes (some of them don’t even have lines), but I found one match-up I love.

I’ve been breaking even or better on my upset picks. Come with me and let’s have some fun with my Week 13 college football upset predictions.

CFB Upset Prediction: Old Dominion at Georgia Southern +10

The line has sunk on this one. It was 12.5 at one point on BetMGM. Old Dominion is 7-3 and 6-4 against the spread this season. Georgia Southern is 5-5. They need one more win to be bowl eligible, and then all their good players can transfer before the game.

That’s how college football works now.

Both teams have won three in a row coming in. Neither is going anywhere in the Sun Belt East. James Madison has that locked up. Georgia Southern needs a win to be bowl eligible. I think that is the motivation – even if half the team will be gone by then.

CFB Upset Pick: Marshall at App State +3

One metric I have used successfully this year to identify upsets is home teams getting points against rivals. App State has lost four in a row, but this is their shot at making a bowl game. The two teams have traded win in the series each of the last five years.

It’s the Mountaineers turn.

Marshall has lost two of its last three – and that one win came against a bad Georgia State – and is only 2-3 on the road. App State is starting a new QB in JJ Kohl because AJ Swann got knocked out against James Madison last week.

App State has covered the last seven games as underdogs in North Carolina and won 16 of 17 home games in November. It’s a sellout. They’re honoring the national champs (1-AA) from 20 years ago. I like App State.

CFB Upset Picks: East Carolina at Texas-San Antonio +3

UTSA has one of the most amazing streaks in college football that you’ve probably never heard.

They’ve won 24 straight conference games at home. That streak dates back to their time in Conference USA. UTSA QB Owen McCown is averaging 267 yards and no picks at home. On the road, he hits for 187 yards and has six picks.

There’s more. At home, UTSA scores 48.3 points. On the road, it’s 21.7. What’s in the water in San Antonio? UTSA has also covered its last eight home games against conference teams. This streak is too good to pass up.

CFB Upset Pick: Coastal Carolina +23 at South Carolina

I saw this line, and I couldn’t hit the button fast enough on Coastal Carolina.

South Carolina is an emotionally beaten team (I believe) after blowing that 30-3 halftime lead to Texas A&M last week. South Carolina is 3-7, and there’s no bowl game. They rank last in the SEC in yards per game and points per game.

Meanwhile, Coastal uses two different quarterbacks. Tad Hudson and Samari Collier helped fuel the Chanticleers last week, combining for 270 yards of total offense. They’re 6-4 and 5-5 against the spread. Yes, South Carolina is probably better, but they have no juice. Coastal could win this one straight up.
