Opening Ohio State vs Michigan odds are out for “The Game” in Week 14, and the betting market can’t seem to decide just how much of an edge OSU really has.
Sportsbooks posted the line with OSU as 11.5-point road favorites Saturday night. But that number has been all over the map since FanDuel posted look-ahead lines in May. What started at OSU -5.5 ballooned to -13.5 this week before sharp money brought it back down.
Let’s break down these opening OSU vs Michigan odds and why this rivalry continues to confound the oddsmakers.
Ohio State vs Michigan Odds
Odds as of November 22 at 9:00 pm ET on FanDuel. Make your early bet for “The Game” with the FanDuel promo code.

The undefeated Buckeyes (11-0) enter as the nation’s #1 team, while Michigan (9-2) sits at #17 after winning five straight.
Kickoff is noon ET on Saturday, November 29th, from Michigan Stadium. FOX has the broadcast as Ryan Day seeks his first win in Ann Arbor since 2019.
The stakes couldn’t be higher: Michigan needs this win to secure a CFP berth, while Ohio State is currently favored in the National Championship odds to repeat as champions.
Ohio State vs Michigan Spread Movement & Line History
The line opened at -5.5 in May and climbed steadily as Ohio State dominated. It hit -8.5 in September, -10.5 by mid-November, and peaked at -13.5 on Wednesday.
That’s when the sharps struck. Professional bettors hammered Michigan +13.5, forcing the line back to -11.5 within 48 hours. Some books saw the juice reach -120 on OSU -12.5 before the buyback intensified.
Line Movement Timeline
The public betting splits show where the early money is landing. While 94.5% of bets back Ohio State’s moneyline, only 37.6% of the money is on the Buckeyes. The early big bets are on Michigan, with 62.4% of the handle backing another upset.
Ohio State vs Michigan Injury Report & Betting Impact
Ohio State rolled past Rutgers 42-9 on Saturday despite sitting their top two receivers. Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate watched from the sideline, and you have to think Ryan Day was saving them for Michigan. The Buckeyes didn’t need them anyway against the overmatched Scarlet Knights.
Julian Sayin completed 13 of 19 passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns. Freshman Bo Jackson rushed for 110 yards and two scores on just 15 carries. The win marked Ohio State’s 11th straight, with every victory since September coming by at least 18 points.
Day called both receivers “day-to-day” after the game, but I wouldn’t read too much into it. Smith has 69 catches for 902 yards and 10 touchdowns, while Tate has 7 TDs and 711 yards on 39 receptions. There’s no way these guys miss this game unless something’s seriously wrong.
Michigan beat Maryland 45-20 for its fifth straight win. Bryce Underwood bounced back from two late picks against Northwestern, completing 16 of 23 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns. Former walk-on Bryson Kuzdzal stepped up with Jordan Marshall sidelined, rushing for 100 yards and three scores.
The Wolverines lost fullback Max Bredeson to a foot injury. He left on crutches with his right foot in a boot, adding to Michigan’s injury concerns heading into Saturday. Meanwhile, Michigan Wolverines backup QB Davis Warren missed Week 13 with a knee injury.
Ohio State vs Michigan Betting Trends & Historical Odds
Michigan has won four straight in this series, each time as significant underdogs. Last year’s 13-10 victory as 20.5-point dogs was the most shocking. The game ended with police using pepper spray after Michigan players tried to plant their flag at midfield.
The streak started in 2021 when Michigan bullied Ohio State 42-27 as 6.5-point underdogs, rushing for 297 yards. They’ve controlled the line of scrimmage ever since, winning 45-23 in 2022 as 9-point dogs and 30-24 in 2023, getting just three points.
Recent Head-to-Head Results
This year’s Ohio State team does have a different feel, though. They boast the nation’s best scoring defense at 7.6 points per game. Their 78.9% completion percentage leads the country. Sayin’s 185.4 passer rating ranks second nationally.
Michigan’s passing game ranks 123rd with just 0.82 passing touchdowns per game. But their 10th-ranked rushing attack (224.6 yards per game) has been the formula for beating Ohio State year after year.
Ohio State vs Michigan Betting Pick & Line Movement Prediction
This line should settle between 11 and 12.5 by kickoff. If Smith can’t go (though I’ll believe it when I see it), expect movement toward Michigan. Vice versa if Marshall remains out for the Wolverines.
Weather could be huge. Late November in Ann Arbor can get nasty, and any wind or rain favors Michigan’s ground game. The total already dropped from 47.5 to 44.5, with 68.8% of the money on the Under.
Ryan Day desperately needs this win. Four straight losses to Michigan have brought relentless criticism. But Sherrone Moore has Michigan believing they own this rivalry, and that psychological edge matters.
The numbers favor Ohio State overwhelmingly. They convert third downs at 55.8% versus Michigan’s 48.6%. They score on 89.8% of red-zone trips, compared to Michigan’s 78.9%. They’ve committed just seven turnovers all season, while the Wolverines have coughed it up 13 times.
But those stats haven’t mattered when these teams meet. Until Ohio State proves it can handle the pressure of this rivalry, the points have value. The sharp money knows it, which explains the buyback from 13.5 despite Ohio State’s dominant season.
