The Detroit Lions (8-7, 3-4 away) are on playoff life support, and it’s going to take what amounts to a Christmas miracle to claim a berth in the NFC. Beating the Minnesota Vikings (7-8, 2-4 home) on Christmas Day is a must.

Already out of contention, the Vikes would love nothing more than to drag their division foes with them. They’ve still got some things to play for, though, like Justin Jefferson hitting a milestone.

His receiving yards line is one of our main targets in the Lions vs Vikings player prop bets. Read below for all the props available in the NFL odds.

Jared Goff has a passing yards line of 240.5 yards, with his high-octane receiving duo of Amon-Ra St Brown (78.5 yards) and Jameson Williams (62.5 yards) owning the top two receiving yard totals. Right behind that pair is Jefferson at 60.5 yards.

Running back Jahmyr Gibbs has the top rushing total at 73.5 yards, while Minny’s Aaron Jones has a line of 63.5.

Lions vs Vikings Player Prop Bet #1: Gibbs Over 16.5 Rushing Attempts (-105 at BetMGM)

Gibbs has had an electric year for the Lions, as he’s run for 1,102 yards and 13 TDs on healthy 5.3 yards per carry, but you have to wonder how much meat Detroit has left on the bone.

It was always going to be a transition to move from offensive guru Ben Johnson (who’s currently showing out as the head coach of the Bears), and Detroit’s rush attack has had a tough adjustment.

Detroit is 12th in the NFL in rushing at 123.4 yards per game, which is off the pace of last year, when they were sixth (146.4 yards).

But it’s just not the yardage, it’s the feel for when to use your workhorse back and when to drop in David Montgomery to give Gibbs a break. It hasn’t felt right at all. Gibbs is coming of his worst running game of the season, with just seven times for two yards, though he did catch 10 balls for 66 yards and a TD pass.

I’m amazed his rush line is set at 15.5, because he’s eclipsed that total just once in the last eight games, when he rushed 20 times for 68 yards in a loss to Green Bay.

Minnesota might be the get-right opponent, as they rank 24th against the run, allowing 127.6 yards per game, but there’s enough of a sample to show a heavy carry game for Gibbs isn’t in the cards.

Lions vs Vikings Player Prop Bet #2: Jefferson Over 57.5 Receiving Yards (-118 at BetMGM)

In a major disappointment of a season that will see them miss the playoffs, the Minnesota Vikings have said they are aware of Justin Jefferson’s quest for a 1,000 yard season.

It would be his sixth straight in his first six seasons, a feat completed by just two others: Mike Evans and Randy Moss.

So the plan is to ensure that Jefferson gets to that number — which might be frustrating to Vikings fans, because, why the hell weren’t you force-feeding your all-world receiver every game?

He’s just 83 yards from 1,000, and had his first big catch game in weeks, hauling in six balls for 85 yards in the Vikings’ 16-13 win over the New York Giants.

How rough has it been for their star receiver as he’s lived through the growing pains of JJ McCarthy at the starting QB helm? Jefferson had just 10 catches for 85 yards in his previous four games combined.

Detroit is 25th in receiving yards allowed, so Jefferson’s path to a grand is looking pretty nice.
