The 2025 Pop-Tarts Bowl will be played at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida, as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and BYU Cougars square off. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET, with ABC carrying the broadcast.
Let’s get you prepped for this matchup with our Georgia Tech vs BYU line, prediction and Pop-Tarts Bowl opt-outs.
Georgia Tech vs BYU Line
Oddsmakers opened the Cougars as 4.5-point favorites, with the total set as high as 56.5. Since then, bettors have shown respect to the Yellow Jackets, driving the Georgia Tech vs BYU line down to +4 and even +3.5 at some sportsbooks.

Georgia Tech vs BYU Prediction
Best Bet: BYU -3.5 (-112)

What began as an exciting, hope-filled season for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets ultimately ended in a disappointing and underwhelming fashion. That’s not to say the year was a failure, but it certainly felt like Georgia Tech never fully reached its potential.
Led by quarterback Haynes King, the Yellow Jackets opened the season with an impressive eight-game winning streak. That momentum came to a halt against NC State in a 48-36 loss, and things unraveled quickly from there. Georgia Tech dropped two of its next three games, going from undefeated to three losses in roughly a month.
The playoff potential was real, but when the stakes were highest, King and the Yellow Jackets faltered. The schedule wasn’t especially demanding, which may help explain why they struggled once they were tested.
Individually, King had an excellent final collegiate season. He completed over 71% of his passes for 2,697 yards, with 12 touchdowns and five interceptions, while adding 922 rushing yards and 15 scores on the ground. He’s certainly capable of taking over a game, but doing so for all four quarters against a strong Cougars defense could prove difficult in this Georgia Tech vs BYU matchup.
The Cougars enter this bowl matchup ranked 29th in EPA per play allowed, 40th in success rate and 19th in third- and fourth-down success rate. On the other side, Georgia Tech’s defense has been a persistent issue all season, ranking 102nd in EPA allowed and 81st in success rate allowed.
BYU’s offense, led by freshman quarterback Bear Bachmeier, has been solid, ranking 21st in success rate and doing much of its damage on the ground. Bachmeier has been especially effective with his legs, scrambling for 527 yards and 11 touchdowns.
His passing has been more inconsistent, as he’s completed 64.2% of his throws for 2,708 yards with a 14-6 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Still, for a freshman, that’s a strong first season. And given the vulnerabilities of Georgia Tech’s defense, who’s to say he can’t significantly pad those stats in this matchup?
I certainly won’t be one to say that. In fact, I expect Bachmeier to put on a show. I understand it’s Haynes King’s final game in a Yellow Jackets uniform and that there will be plenty of inspiration on that side of the ball, but BYU is simply the more complete team.
Based on their comments leading into this matchup, the Cougars want to cap off a respectable season with a win, and it appears they’re treating this game like it’s a huge spot—which is exactly what bowl games are meant to be.
BYU’s defense will make the necessary stops when it matters most, which will ultimately prove to be the difference in what should be a thrilling contest. My Georgia Tech vs BYU prediction is to lay -3.5 (-112) with the Cougars, who will look to claim their 12th win of the season.
Pop-Tarts Bowl Opt-Outs
Shockingly, there are no opt-outs for either team in this matchup. The most notable absence is BYU running back LJ Martin, who will miss the game after undergoing a recent, unspecified surgery. Martin rushed for over 1,300 yards and 12 touchdowns this season and was voted Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year.
