It’s a primetime battle with the two biggest stars watching from the sidelines, as the Golden State Warriors (28-24, 11-15 away) visit the Los Angeles Lakers (31-19, 13-8 home).

Warriors superstar Steph Curry (knee) and his Lakers’ counterpart Luka Doncic (hamstring) have already been ruled out of this one, where the books have LA as the betting favorite in the NBA odds.

Action tips off Saturday at 8:30pm ET from crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with ABC carrying the broadcast.

The spread for this has stayed at 3.5 points, with LA getting -102 odds to over at BetMGM, while the Dubs are getting the points at -110 odds at bet365. An outright win for the Warriors pays out at +140, while it’s a shorter -154 for the Lakers on the moneyline.

Over bettors can find the total at 223 points at Caesars, while Under bettors can get an extra 1.5 points at bet365.

Warriors vs Lakers Picks & Prediction

• Pick: Lakers -3 (-110 at bet365)

The Warriors don’t have a timeline for Curry’s return from a knee injury, and the longer he sits, the quicker the Warriors will slide down the Western Conference ladder.

This is a team that’s already down Jimmy Butler for the rest of the year, and while there might be some relief with the mano-a-mano showdown between the Warrriors’ front office and Jonathan Kuminga, the player they got in return, Kristaps Porzingis, is still dealing with an Achilles injury and is out. Brandin Podziemski (illness) is probable for Saturday.

But the current sum of the Warriors’ parts is just not good enough to compete right now, unless they can turn it into a rockfight.

In the two games Curry has sat, the Dubs have averaged 97.5 points. While that was enough to snag them a 101-97 win over the Suns last game, they were bailed out with a blistering 20 3-point makes to math out a win.

Pat Spencer led the way with six triples, with every started but Draymond Green hitting at least two moneyballs (Green did go 1-for-3 himself).

The Lakers continue to punch above their weight class, coming off a monster comeback 119-115 win over Philadelphia to move to 31-19 on the season and fifth in the Western Conferene.

This is a ton of smoke and mirrors, though, as LA is 23rd in defensive rating, the lowest rank of any team currently in playoff position. Doncic’s brilliant scoring (he leads the league at 32.8 points per game) masks some of that, as do some retro numbers by LeBron James, but this team is built for one-offs in the regular season.

The reason I’m taking an LA cover in my Warriors vs Lakers prediction is that the home team also has Austin Reaves back from injury, and coming off a scorching 35-point effort in his return against Philly.

Because he can step into the role of Luka light (for at least one night), LA’s offense should be potent enough to get by a Warriors’ side that can barely throw out a competent lineup at the moment.

Having broken down the matchup, and considering at variables like team trends, statistical analysis for each player, both against the opponent vs recent form, I’ve landed on a pair of props that offer good value.

Best Bet #1: Draymond Green Under 8.5 Points (-112) at bet365

The Warriors’ de facto big man is already past his prime, but without Curry on the floor, Draymond Green struggles to find his way in the offense.

Over the last two games, Green has a combined 11 points on 3-for-10 shooting from the floor, going Under the this line twice.

He hasn’t had much scoring impact against the Lakers as well, scoring nine or more points just twice in the last eight meetings.

Best Bet #2: Austin Reaves Over 23.5 points (-120) at bet365

Without Reaves, this bet would look wholly different, as these teams would look eerily similar and lost on offense, and the target here would have been the Under.

But with Reaves, the Lakers can still have a competent LeBron James defer any of the heavy lifting to LA’s young star in the making.

Reaves showed off the whole repertoire against the Sixers, and in just 25 minutes of work: 12-for-17 from the floor, including five three-point hits, six board and a couple of assists.

He’s currently averaging 26.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.9 assists, and shouldn’t have a problem getting to his spots against the Warriors.
