The Team World roster would be even more stacked but two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are both injured.

Cunningham and Tyrese Maxey are the two ASG starters on Team USA Stars.

Team USA Stripes, who will face the winner of World/Stars in the second game and the loser of World/Stars in the final round-robin game, are led by ASG starters Jalen Brunson and Jaylen Brown. The game total has been set at 81.5, which would be a 326-point total for a four-quarter game. In this format, I expect more defense than we usually see at NBA All-Star Games, which leads to my best bet for World vs USA Stars.

Game-Total Pick: Under 81.5 (-108 at FanDuel)

This isn’t quite the World vs Team USA format that we saw in the 2021 WNBA All-Star Game, which resulted in a hard-fought 93-85 win that stayed under the opening total by 70.5 points (178 total points against an opening total of 248.5). But I do expect national pride to produce more defensive effort than in standard East-vs-West All-Star Games.

As mentioned above, the spread and total project both teams hitting/approaching 40 points in 12 minutes.

With Wembenyama and Holmgren on the floor, both teams will have some semblance of rim protection for the majority of the game.
