We’re still three weeks away from NFL free agency, but the pool of available players got a lot deeper today with the addition of Tyreek Hill. The Cheetah was released by the Dolphins following four seasons, saving Miami $22.8 million against the cap.

The question now becomes which team will sign the speedy wideout, with predictive market Kalshi offering a market to bet on who will be Hill’s next team.

You can bet on any one of the 32 franchises to sign Hill, but at the time of writing Kalshi was only taking wagers on four (KC, Buffalo, Chicago and the NY Giants) of the teams to not sign Hill.

The Chiefs were the only franchise Kalshi is giving less than a 98c return on a wager to not sign Hill, effectively making them the favorites to do so.

Is a Chiefs Reunion in the Cards?

Hill’s free agency status opens up a potential return to Kansas City, the team that drafted him back in 2016. Hill enjoyed six incredibly productive seasons with the Chiefs, and appeared in two Super Bowls, winning the Lombardi during the 2019 season.

It’s a move that KC would be wise to consider, and it would fall in line with some of their other offseason decisions so far. The Chiefs appear to be getting the band back together. They’ve brought back Eric Bieniemy to be their offensive coordinator, and are trying to coax Travis Kelce to return for his age 37 season.

Kansas City has tried unsuccessfully to replace Hill’s speed and production at receiver since he left, but have failed miserably. Current number one Rashee Rice can’t stay out of legal trouble, while Xavier Worthy hasn’t developed into a reliable weapon for Patrick Mahomes.

Hill logged 119 receptions and over 1,700 yards in his first two seasons with the Fins, before a down 2024 saw him catch just 81 balls. His 2025 campaign was cut short due to injury, and while he’s currently rehabbing a knee injury, he could be the explosive element that revives Mahomes’ career.

Three of Mahomes’ four most productive NFL seasons came when Hill was on the team, and the duo connected for 48 regular season and playoff touchdowns together. Since he left, Mahomes has been forced to try and elevate inferior talent, and his drop off in production over the last three seasons has been a major talking point.

Since 2022, Mahomes has averaged just 7.0 yards per attempt, and has failed to throw for more than 27 passing TD in a season. They’re already bringing back his former OC to help jump start his game, so why not add the most explosive receiver he’s ever played with back into the mix as well.

Don’t Sleep on the Chargers

While a reunion in KC is one legit possibility, another reunion scenario is also in play. Hill could follow former Miami head coach Mike McDaniel to Los Angeles, to play alongside Justin Herbert and the Chargers.

LAC isn’t expected to bring Keenan Allen back, and could use another dynamic threat to pair alongside Ladd McConkey and emerging tight end Oronde Gadsden. McDaniel will definitely know how to maximize Hill’s talents, and that familiarity along with the chance to compete for a Super Bowl for the final years of his career could be enticing.

The Chargers have bigger holes on offense to fill this season than wide receiver, but Quentin Johnston never really materialized into a true number one. Opponents have also shown the ability to minimize McConkey’s impact on the game, as they haven’t had to worry about the consequences of shading coverage towards him, with no one else on the roster capable of making them pay.

Bottom line, it’s time to give Herbert the supporting cast to chase a ring. LAC’s defense is consistently a top-10 unit, while Herbert has all the tools on paper of being a championship caliber quarterback. The offense always seems to be one piece away from truly contending, and Hill could certainly vault them into that next tier of teams.
