The Mario Barrios vs Ryan Garcia fight is being tagged as a battle between the clean and not-so-clean. It seems appropriate that the bout occurs in “Sin City” on Saturday night. One could argue that this could make for a war. There are even some who believe Ryan Garcia can win this easily in a knockout.

Barrios, the champion, is a significant underdog on the moneyline, now at +195 on DraftKings (+205 via FanDuel). There are even more options depending on the props when it comes to better odds. Thankfully, that props market always delivers for us when we need it the most.

Even with the latest update, the numbers still lean toward Ryan Garcia. It appears too difficult to make a bold prediction here, but as far as a knockout, this may be one to take a chance with Garcia at +125 via FanDuel. Barrios is more likely to grind out a decision in the championship rounds. That is the perception, anyway.

The public loves entertainment and drama. That is where Garcia excels for many right and wrong reasons. Online sportsbooks saw Garcia’s moneyline numbers back off to mostly around -250 on the moneyline. Even FanDuel wormed its way back to -245. BetMGM is now down to -225. It makes one wonder.

Barrios vs Garcia Total Rounds Props

Round BetOdds
Over 10.5 Rounds-135
Under 10.5 RoundsEven

So, as Brady Trettenero wrote about earlier on Saturday, there is a key wrinkle to consider. Barrios trained with Joe Goossen. He was Garcia’s former trainer and knows the ins and outs well on the challenger. Both fighters come in extremely hungry. I argue that Barrios won his last two fights narrowly, but some intriguing judging led to a split draw and a majority draw.

I believe the Over is winning the rounds props going away. At -135, it surprises me that the number is still shorter than -150. Maybe it gets there by fight time, but right now, take it while you can get it.

You can also make the argument that a unanimous decision is worth a shot. This fight will be entertaining, but I like Barrios in the later rounds if he can tire out Garcia even a little. Garcia showed in his last few bouts that the later rounds are when he loses a little zip on everything, including those legs.

Honestly, there have been a lot of decisions for both fighters of late. As we mentioned, if Garcia is going to win, I think it will be by knockout. Garcia still has punching power at the 147-pound limit, and he made weight comfortably. Garcia wants to avoid getting knocked down early like he did against Rolando Romero. Romero took his rhythm away, and Garcia was not the same.

Bluntly, Garcia has to get to the power shots early and often. A KO for the California native between Rounds 7-9 is rolling in at +490, while the early Rounds 4-6 is a more than solid +700. The chances of a Garcia decisions feel like they are fading by the minute. We could be wrong but a decision just seems to favor Barrios or a Draw, perhaps.

Do not forget that DAZN PPV carries the fight, and the two pugilists should get in the ring just before Midnight. One last possible wager is a fun one. Barrios could win by decision despite getting knocked down. At +1700 via FanDuel, this might be worth a very small wager. Barrios has the ability to get off the mat, gain his composure, and bounce right back. He has done it several times in his career.

I do not believe Ryan Garcia will get the knockout he desires on Saturday night. Good luck tonight and let’s get it on!
