  • The Denver Nuggets fly to Oklahoma City to take on the Thunder this Friday, February 27
  • ESPN is carrying this game, so we’ll all be able to watch it, which means we’ll need some action
  • See below for my two-leg, +199 NBA parlay for the Nuggets/Thunder tonight

We’re looking at a very soft Friday night NBA slate, but in this small slate, we’ve got gold. We’re talking about an ESPN game between two of the Western Conference heavyweights. That’s right, the Denver Nuggets and Oklahoma City Thunder. On top of that, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is back, so we’re talking full rosters here. It doesn’t get much better.

Obviously, we’re going to need some action. We can’t have these guys out there playing for nothing. Normally, I’d say let’s tie a few overs together and watch the fireworks, but something is telling me we need to get brave. It’s Friday. And nothing I know of is braver than taking an under on two of the best players in an ESPN game. That takes balls, but sometimes, having balls will get you paid. Tonight is one of those nights.

Nuggets/Thunder SGP for Friday

PickOdds
Chet Holmgren Under 16.5 Points-112
Nikola Jokic Under 10.5 Assists-146
Two-Leg NBA SGP+199

The two legs of this Denver/OKC SGP generate +199 odds, meaning a $100 bet would profit $199.

Nuggets/Thunder Parlay Leg #1 – Are We Really Sold on Chet?

The haters are going to say I don’t like Chet, but as usual, the haters are 100% wrong. For starters, I don’t even know the guy. I’m sure he’s probably a cool guy and a great hang. I even have close personal friends (shout out, Geoff) who love the man. But, with that being said, what if he’s a bit overrated? Have we ever considered that?

Keep in mind, we’re talking about a guy who hasn’t covered his point total in over a month.

Obviously, nobody wants to bet an under on a Friday night, but we have to do what we have to do. We need to let the board come to us, and damn it, the board is screaming under on Chet right now. His total is set at 16.5, which is something he has only done twice in his last 10 games. In both of those games, he finished with 17 points, so it’s not like he’s lighting up the scoreboard.

Now, tonight, he gets the Denver Nuggets, who simply aren’t afraid of Chet. In the last 10 matchups with Chet, the Nuggets have held him under 17 points in eight of them. The only two times he went over, he did so by still scoring under 20 points. The guy is hanging on by a thread. Now we’re supposed to believe the world’s coldest player is going to suddenly break out against a team that owns him? I don’t see it.

Nuggets/Thunder Parlay Leg #2 – Is Joker’s Dime Machine Broken?

Nikola Jokic is the best player in the world. We could argue some other guys like Luka Doncic, Anthony Edwards, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, but at the end of the day, if we wanted to start a team, those of us with brains would take Joker. That’s just how having a brain works.

I mean, look at what this guy does to actual NBA defenses on a regular basis.

That’s why tonight’s bet is such a butt-squeezer. We’re going to actually fade Jokic. It’s something that doesn’t work out for most people, but we’re not like most people. We’re battle-tested. We’ve been to the puppet show, and we’ve seen the strings. This move is what will make us great. It could even get us all into the Gambling Hall of Fame. First ballot.

The thing is, we’re going to fade Joker’s assists. At 10.5, this number is way too high. It opened at 9.5 and was bet up, but I’m not sure why. Going back to March of last year, Nikola and the Nuggets have seen the Thunder 10 times. In those 10 games, Joker has failed to reach 11 assists every single time. In fact, he’s never recorded more than nine. I hate to take an under, but this is a brave one, so we can get away with it. Feels easy.
