It’s chalk across the board in the Women’s NCAA Tournament. South Carolina (35-3), the #1 seed in Regional 4, became the fourth one-seed to reach the Final Four on Monday night with a 78-52 victory over #3 TCU.

The win set up a rematch of last year’s title game with reigning-national champion UConn (38-0), the #1 overall seed in the 2026 tournament.

There has been ample turnover on both rosters but the opening UConn vs South Carolina odds portend another lopsided Husky win. UConn routed SC 81-59 in last year’s title game.

UConn’s Path to Final Four

UConn routed its first four opponents by an average of 32.5 PPG. Their closest game was a 70-52 win over #6 Notre Dame in the Elite Eight. They also beat #16 UTSA (90-52), #9 Syracuse (98-45), and #4 North Carolina (63-42).

National player of the year Sarah Strong (18.6 PPG, 7.6.RPG, 3.9 APG) is averaging 19.5 points and 7.8 rebounds in the tournament, upping her already impressive averages.

Reigning NCAA Tournament Most-Outstanding Player Azzi Fudd (17.5 PPG, 2.6 RPG, 3.1 APG), the projected #1 pick in the 2026 WNBA draft, continues to light it up from deep, averaging 16.0 PPG in the tournament while shooting a blistering 55.0% from three.

The only knock one could reasonably make against this iteration of Geno Auriema’s Huskies is resume. UConn has only played two teams that rank inside the top ten at BartTorvik: #10 Louisville (79-66 neutral) and #7 Michigan (72-69 neutral).

The final score against Michigan is a little deceptive. UConn led by as many as 20 in the second half before taking its foot off the gas.

South Carolina’s Path to the Final Four

The Gamecocks have looked every inch a #1 seed with four lopsided wins by an average of nearly 40 points per game: #16 Southern (103-34), #9 USC (101-61), #4 Oklahoma (94-68), and #3 TCU (78-52).

Leading scorer Joyce Edwards (19.6 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 2.4 APG) is averaged a team-high 19.3 PPG through the first three rounds.

Two of the Gamecocks’ three losses this season came to Regional 3 top-seed Texas, which will face Regional 2 top-seed UCLA in the other semifinal on Friday (see the opening Texas vs UCLA odds).

The first was a narrow 66-64 setback in Las Vegas during November’s Players Era Championship. The second was a 78-61 rout in Greenville in the final of the SEC Tournament.

SC’s other loss was a 94-82 OT setback at then-#16 Oklahoma.

The 2026 Final Four will take place at Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The tip-off times for Friday’s semifinal games are 4:00 pm ET and 6:30 pm ET. The NCAA has yet to announce which game will be in which timeslot.
