A small amount of key historic trends can help us narrow down our pool to find the eventual winner, and I’ve got three longshot picks that fit those trends and that are very live to win the year’s first Major.

I’m starting my Masters longshots betting card with Robert MacIntyre, who is fresh off a runner-up result and sets up nicely for this track. I’m also betting Akshay Bhatia, who’s playing as well as anyone at the moment, and Nicolai Hojgaard who is trending towards his first win on US soil.

The Masters Key Trends

I’m looking at six key trends when trying to identify my winner. Each of the past 10 Masters winners have been top-30 ranked players. Eight of the last 10 champions were playing in at least their third Masters, while only one didn’t have a previous top-25 result at Augusta.

Eight of the past 10 winners also had a top-12 finish over the last month, and were under the age of 30. Finally, nine of the past 10 champs had a previous top-6 result in a major. Of my three bets, MacIntyre fits all six trends, while Hojgaard checks the box in five of the six categories, and Bhatia qualifies for four of the six.

The Masters Longshot Pick #1: Robert MacIntyre to Win

• Robert MacIntyre to Win (+3500 at DraftKings)

MacIntyre should have won last week, but I’m not going to let a couple bad shots dissuade me from betting him at the Masters. The 29-year-old was runner-up at least year’s US Open, and was T-12 at Augusta in his first appearance in 2021.

He enters in phenomenal form, having gained strokes across all key metrics over his last two starts, and has three top-five finishes in seven tournaments this season. He’s also a left-handed golfer, and history has shown Augusta is one of the most friendly courses for lefties out there. Look no further than at previous champions like Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson and Mike Weir for proof.

The Masters Longshot Pick #2: Akshay Bhatia to Win

• Akshay Bhatia to Win (+7000 at FanDuel)

Speaking of lefties, Bhatia’s recent form makes him a no brainer bet at +7000. After a shaky start, he’s showed up on the game’s biggest stages, finishing inside the top-six in Phoenix and at Pebble Beach, before winning the API.

He followed up that result with a 13th place showing at the Players, and ranks top-eight in this field over the last three months in strokes gained short game, putting and approach.

The Masters Longshot Pick #3: Nicolai Hojgaard to Win

• Nicolai Hojgaard to Win (+8500 at bet365)

As for Hojgaard, the only trend he doesn’t fit is a previous top-six result in a Major. I’m willing to overlook that since he’s a completely different player than he was even a year ago.

Hojgaard is the only golfer in the field to rank inside the top-30 in strokes gained tee-to-green, off-the-tee, approach, around the green and putting. He’s flirted with the lead seemingly every time he tees it up in 2026, finishing second last time out in Houston.

His previous best finish at the Masters was T-16, but that’s a bit misleading. He was in the final group on Saturday in 2024, before tripping up through Amen Corner. He mashes it off the tee and can get white hot with the putter, two ingredients that are critical for success at the Masters.
