Vancouver limps in on a four-game losing streak and is mathematically eliminated from the postseason. San Jose is fighting to stay alive in the Western Conference wild card race and snap a two-game skid of its own.

I’m taking the over 6.5 goals for my Canucks vs Sharks prediction. Both teams have been bleeding goals down the stretch, and neither defense has shown any sign of tightening up.

Vancouver is allowing 3.53 goals per game on the season, while San Jose surrenders 3.35 per night. Both team save percentages sit below .880, which is brutal. The over has hit in nine of Vancouver’s last 14 games and four of San Jose’s last six at home.

The goaltending matchup only adds fuel. Kevin Lankinen carries a .875 save percentage and a 3.69 GAA, while Yaroslav Askarov sits at .883 with a 3.62 GAA. Neither netminder has a shutout this season.

The over has cashed in each of the last two head-to-head meetings between these teams. I’m riding that trend.

Canucks vs Sharks Picks

• Macklin Celebrini Over 0.5 Assists (-157 at DraftKings)

I’m starting my Canucks vs Sharks picks with Macklin Celebrini to find a helper. The Sharks star centers the top line with Will Smith and Collin Graf and runs the No. 1 power play unit.

Vancouver’s penalty kill is operating at a dismal 71.7%, dead last among the teams in this matchup. With Celebrini quarterbacking the Sharks’ man advantage and the Canucks’ depleted blue line struggling to defend, he should rack up at least one assist.

• William Eklund Over 0.5 Assists (+127 at DraftKings)

William Eklund offers real plus-money value at +127. The Swedish winger has been one of San Jose’s most consistent playmakers and skates on the second line with Alexander Wennberg and Kiefer Sherwood.

Vancouver is missing key pieces on the back end and is rolling out an inexperienced bottom pairing. Eklund should get plenty of looks against a tired, beaten-up defense.

• Brock Boeser Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (check at DraftKings)

Wrapping up my Canucks vs Sharks picks, I’m going to Brock Boeser for shot volume. Boeser has been Vancouver’s most reliable shooter all season and should see plenty of pucks in a game projected to be high-scoring.

With the Canucks chasing offense and Boeser skating on the second line with Marco Rossi, expect him to fire away against an Askarov who has faced 1,276 shots already this season.
