Tigers vs Red Sox Picks, Best Bets & How to Watch

- The Tigers are +108 underdogs on the road versus the Red Sox tonight
- Detroit starter Casey Mize owns an impressive 10.12 K/9 rate so far this season
- Below, you’ll find my favorite Tigers vs Red Sox picks and best bets, along with how to watch this AL contest
The Detroit Tigers bring a six-game winning streak into action tonight against the Boston Red Sox. Despite the impressive run, online sportsbooks are siding with Boston in the MLB odds as short favorites. I believe that’s a mistake, and will be targeting Detroit in my favorite Tigers vs Red Sox picks below.
Tigers vs Red Sox How to Watch
First pitch for this American League contest is scheduled for 7:15 pm ET at Fenway Park, in Boston, MA, with NESN and Bally Sports Detroit providing the coverage.
Tigers vs Red Sox Picks

I’m betting both the Tigers moneyline and over 8 runs tonight. The series opener features an intriguing pitching duel between Casey Mize and Ranger Suarez. With standout bats like Willson Contreras anchoring the Red Sox lineup and a stellar Tigers pitching staff, there are plenty of angles to exploit.
The Tigers enter Fenway Park boasting a more impressive set of numbers than the Red Sox. Boston has struggled out of the gate, holding a 38.9% overall win percentage. High-scoring games have been common for the Red Sox lately, with the over cashing in 6 of their last 10 matchups. The under meanwhile, has hit in just 36.8% of the Tigers’ overall contests.
Tigers vs Red Sox Stats
The most glaring discrepancy in tonight’s matchup is found on the mound. The Tigers’ pitching staff has been one of the stingiest in baseball, boasting a collective 3.66 ERA while allowing just 3.74 runs per game. Conversely, the Red Sox surrender 4.78 runs per game and carry a bloated 4.55 team ERA.
Casey Mize vs Ranger Suarez Stats
The Tigers’ offense, sparked by Kevin McGonigle and Dillon Dingler, is well-equipped to capitalize on Suarez’s tendency to allow traffic on the basepaths. Suarez is yielding a 5.02 ERA and a .291 opponent batting average, struggling heavily with hard contact early in the campaign.
Both starting pitchers have shown a propensity to put runners on base, with Mize (1.44 WHIP) and Suarez (1.47 WHIP) consistently working out of jams. Despite their underwhelming start, the Red Sox still feature dangerous power threats who are highly capable of contributing to a high-scoring affair.
Tigers vs Red Sox Best Bets
- Casey Mize Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-154 at Caesars)
For my best MLB props wager, I am targeting Casey Mize over 4.5 strikeouts. Mize is currently striking out 10.12 batters per 9 innings. Averaging over 5 innings per start, his typical outing yields roughly six strikeouts. Armed with swing-and-miss stuff, Mize should easily navigate a lineup that has shown vulnerability at the plate.

Tigers vs Red Sox Betting Splits
Moving over to the MLB public betting splits shows the moneyline market is tightly contested, but the Tigers have captured a slight edge, drawing 50.8% of the betting tickets alongside 56.4% of the overall financial handle. It is encouraging to see the financial backing align with my moneyline prediction.
Unlike the moneyline, the total runs market is entirely one-sided. A staggering 87.8% of all tickets and 92.0% of the overall stake are backing the Over. While this huge financial liability mirrors my recommendation, I always remind bettors not to justify a prediction solely on public splits. Line movement and public money do not inherently equal value.
