After Matt Fitzpatrick won the RBC Heritage in a playoff over world #1 Scottie Scheffler, the PGA Tour mixes things up this week in Louisiana for the team competition at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Fitzpatrick is teeing it up, alongside brother Alex, who claimed his first DP World Tour title a few weeks ago. 74 teams of two golfers will vie for the title playing two different formats.

For Thursday and Saturday rounds, it will be the four-ball (best ball) format with both golfers playing their own ball throughout the hole, and them selecting whoever did better for their score. On Friday and Sunday rounds, it’ll be foursomes (known more commonly as alternate shot), which is much more difficult to score well on. 2024 champ Shane Lowry is competing, but not without fellow Irishman Rory McIlroy, who opted not to play. Instead, Lowry will form a dynamic duo with Brooks Koepka. Ben Griffin and Andrew Novak are defending champions.

I won’t lie, this tournament is my least favorite to bet all season, with there being hardly any big names competing, but also the randomness and volatility of the format. However, I’m starting my card this week with the English duo of Marco Penge and Matt Wallace.

Recently, Wallace very nearly took home the victory at the Valero Texas Open, where he eventually tied for second. Penge hits the ball a mile (sixth in driving distance), and was T-4th at the Valspar Championship last month.

Penge took the DP World Tour by storm in 2025, winning three times and was also second at the Genesis Scottish Open (co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour). This pair can be very formidable, and I like that their odds are longer than the top-four choices on the board. After Penge/Wallace, I’m searching for longshots, given the volatility of this tourney.

Zurich Classic 2026 Picks & Value Bets

  1. Tony Finau/May Greyserman +3500: I won’t sugarcoat it, this pair haven’t been firing on all cylinders, but if they were, they’d easily be a top choice to claim the title in New Orleans. Tony Finau is a proven champion on the PGA Tour (six wins), while Max Greyserman has been oh-so-close to tasting ultimate success, with five career runner-ups. Two years ago, Greyserman was T-4th at the Zurich Classic, just two shots out of a playoff.
  2. Chad Ramey/Justin Lower +6800: This selection is based purely on past history at this event. Two years ago, Chad Ramey nearly won, losing in a playoff alongside Martin Trainer to Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry. That’s sandwiched in between a T-8th in 2025 and T-9th in 2023. Justin Lower partnered with Ramey a season ago and they posted that T-8th, and Lower was also T-10th in 2022.
  3. Blades Brown/Luke Clanton +7400: 18-year old phenom Blades Brown has been turning heads, from shooting 60 earlier this year at The American Express, to finishing third at the Puerto Rico Open. He’s coming off a second place showing on the Korn Ferry Tour, and was third two events before that. Luke Clanton is finding his way after also turning heads as an amateur in 2024. A win by this duo would be the best story to come from this week.
  4. Adam Hadwin/Adam Svensson +8200: Among the longshots, this Canadian partnership is as far as I can stretch among the possibilities to claim the crown. I particularly am intrigued about them because of Adam Hadwin’s track record around TPC Louisiana. In the last three years, he’s been runner-up (2023), 10th (2024), and T-12th (2025). Both players have one tour win to their credit. I’d be more inclined to bet them on the top 10/20 markets.
