The Milwaukee Brewers (30-20) welcome the St. Louis Cardinals (29-22) to American Family Field at 2:10pm ET this afternoon to open up a new series with their NL Central rival. Both clubs enter this matchup looking to rebound from recent defeats. Milwaukee is aiming to shake off a 5-1 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, while St. Louis looks to bounce back after falling 7-6 against the Cincinnati Reds.

The Brewers are positioned as home favorites in the MLB odds, thanks to elite lineup centerpieces like William Contreras and Christian Yelich, as well as a future Cy Young winner on the mound.

My two favorite bets today are the Brewers moneyline and under 7.5 runs. Milwaukee holds a distinct advantage on the mound with Jacob Misiorowski. The young flamethrower has been virtually unhittable, posting a 1.90 ERA, a 0.88 WHIP, and a massive 2.1 WAR across 57.0 innings. St. Louis will counter with Matthew Liberatore, who’s off to a shaky start posting a 4.70 ERA.

With Misiorowski on the mound, runs will be at an absolute premium. The Brewers’ bullpen has also been elite, ranking near the top of the league with a 3.47 bullpen ERA and holding opponents to a .234 batting average. I expect a tightly contested battle that stays under the total.

Misiorowski has been arguably the most dominant starter in the rotation this season. Striking out 13.89 batters per nine innings, he holds opposing lineups to a paltry .160 batting average. His 2.12 FIP and 2.22 xFIP confirm his success is supported by underlying metrics. Over his last 10 appearances, he averages 5.70 innings per start.

Liberatore meanwhile, is getting hit hard in 2026. Opponents are batting .297 against him, with 9 home runs already in just 51.2 innings. He possesses a small margin for error against high-powered offenses.

The most glaring mismatch between these divisional foes per the MLB starting lineups is their power profiles. Despite playing on the road, St. Louis generates a massive portion of its offense through extra-base hits. Ranking seventh in road home runs per game (1.16) and road OPS (.722), they produce an elite 5.24 runs per game in hostile territory. Most of that production has come against far less talented pitchers than what they’ll face today, and I’m confident Misiorowski and the Brewers will keep the St. Louis bats quiet.

Conversely, Milwaukee lacks traditional pop at home, ranking 26th in home runs per game (0.85) and last in average exit velocity (86.1 mph). Instead, players like Yelich and Contreras excel at putting the ball in play and wreaking havoc on the basepaths. They average nearly a full stolen base per home game.

Moving over to the MLB props market, where I am all in on Misiorowski over 8.5 strikeouts at juicy +109 odds. That’s a line he’s cleared six times already this season, and only Dylan Cease has recorded more K’s entering play today. Per the MLB batter vs pitcher stats, Misiorowski has fared very well against the St. Louis lineup in the past, posting a 24% K rate over 33 at-bats.
