Conference championship weekend is where the season either pays off or falls apart. Preseason favorites get knocked out before they even get to the title game. Group of Five contenders run the table while the Power Five chalk crumbles. Some years the favorites hold serve from August through December. Other years, the whole bracket goes sideways.

2025 Conference Championships
One of the wildest title weeks in recent memory. Duke shocked Virginia in overtime to win the ACC. Texas Tech rolled BYU 34-7 for their first Big 12 crown. Indiana stayed perfect with a win over Ohio State in the Big Ten. Georgia beat Alabama to claim back-to-back SEC titles. Group of Five saw Tulane, Kennesaw State, Western Michigan, Boise State, and James Madison all hoist trophies.

2025 ACC Championship
Championship Game Result: Duke pulled off one of the biggest upsets in ACC title game history, knocking off No. 17 Virginia in overtime to win the conference championship.
November 29: Duke (8-4) and Virginia (10-2) clinch the two ACC Championship Game spots after Week 14 wins. Miami, SMU, and Pittsburgh all fall short of the title game despite being preseason contenders.
September 29: An idle Miami sees average ACC odds shorten from +125 to -114, partly due to Wake Forest taking conference-leading Georgia Tech to overtime.
August 22: Clemson moves to a +106 favorite ahead of kickoff after Cade Klubnik wins Preseason ACC Player of the Year. The Tigers improve from their +270 opening, while Miami lengthens to +389 and SMU drops to +862. Bill Belichick’s arrival at North Carolina generates headlines, but the Tar Heels remain at +4000.
January 27: Clemson opens at +270 to defend their ACC title after beating SMU in the 2024 championship game. Miami starts at +310 with Carson Beck taking over at quarterback. SMU sits at +440 entering its second ACC season. Florida State opens at +1600 after a disappointing 2-10 campaign.
2025 Big 12 Championship
Championship Game Result: Texas Tech dominated BYU 34-7 in Arlington, controlling both lines of scrimmage to claim the Red Raiders’ first Big 12 title.
November 29: BYU and Texas Tech clinch the two Big 12 Championship Game spots after Arizona beats Arizona State on rivalry weekend.
September 29: Arizona State continues to hang with conference favorite Texas Tech, going from +550 to +411 after a 27-24 win over TCU on Friday night.
August 22: Texas Tech makes the biggest move in the conference, improving from +950 to +600 after adding defensive transfers David Bailey (Stanford) and Lee Hunter (UCF) through the portal. Utah surges from +1900 to +610 with QB Cameron Rising’s replacement settled. Arizona State holds at +550 as defending champs. Baylor improves to +640.
January 27: Arizona State opens at +550 after stunning the conference with an 8-1 Big 12 record and championship victory over Iowa State. Texas Tech and Kansas State both start at +950, while Utah sits as a major longshot at +1900. Baylor opens at +700.
2025 Big Ten Championship
Championship Game Result: Indiana stayed perfect on the season with a win over No. 1 Ohio State at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, capturing their first Big Ten title and moving to 13-0.
November 29: Indiana (12-0) and Ohio State (11-0) lock up the two Big Ten title game spots with rivalry-weekend wins. Oregon and Michigan are eliminated despite entering Saturday with chances to reach Indianapolis.
September 29: Easily the biggest game in the country over the weekend, Oregon takes down Penn State 30-24 in double overtime. The Ducks are now averaging +158 to win the Big Ten.
August 22: Ohio State lengthens to +200 from their opening +155 despite winning the 2024 national championship. Penn State makes the biggest improvement, shortening from +410 to +230 with Drew Allar returning. Oregon falls to +370 from +240. Michigan holds at +900 with true freshman Bryce Underwood winning the quarterback job.
January 27: Ohio State opens as +155 favorites coming off their CFP championship victory over Notre Dame. Oregon sits at +240 after defeating Penn State 45-37 in the 2024 Big Ten title game. Penn State starts at +410 despite making the CFP semifinals. Indiana opens as a massive longshot.
2025 SEC Championship
Championship Game Result: No. 3 Georgia crushed No. 9 Alabama in the SEC title game in Atlanta to claim back-to-back SEC championships and secure a CFP berth.
November 29: Georgia and Alabama clinch the two SEC Championship Game spots, with both teams winning their final regular-season games. Texas A&M and Ole Miss fall short of Atlanta despite being mathematically alive.
September 29: Alabama continues to bounce back from their Week 1 loss to FSU, seeing SEC odds shorten to +262 after going into Sanford Stadium and taking down Georgia.
August 22: Texas moves to +269 despite Arch Manning taking over at quarterback, lengthening from their +200 opening. Georgia improves to +312 from +400 with Gunner Stockton stepping in after Carson Beck transferred to Miami. Alabama makes the biggest jump, shortening from +750 to +424 under second-year coach Kalen DeBoer. LSU enters the market at +650.
February 1: Texas opens as +200 favorites in their second SEC season after reaching the conference championship game in 2024. Georgia sits at +400 as defending SEC champs. Alabama starts at +750 with questions surrounding the program after Nick Saban’s retirement. Texas A&M opens at +2300, while Tennessee sits at +2500.
2025 American Championship
Championship Game Result: Tulane beat North Texas 34-21 behind a balanced offensive showing to win the American Conference title and earn a CFP berth.
November 29: Tulane (10-2) and North Texas (11-1) clinch the two AAC Championship Game spots. The Mean Green secured their spot with a 52-28 win over Temple, while Tulane blanked Charlotte to eliminate Navy from contention.
September 29: After hanging 55 points on FAU over the weekend, Memphis is now averaging +336 to win the AAC, while Tulane slips from +295 to +303 following the Green Wave’s win over Tulsa.
August 22: Tulane opens at +340 as favorites after reaching three consecutive AAC championship games. Navy starts at +400, while Army sits at +550 following their championship victory over Tulane in 2024. UTSA opens at +475.
2025 Conference USA Championship
Championship Game Result: Kennesaw State held off Jacksonville State 19-15 in a gritty defensive battle to win the Conference USA title.
November 29: Jacksonville State beats Western Kentucky 37-34 to clinch the second C-USA Championship Game spot opposite Kennesaw State.
September 29: Louisiana Tech moves to as short as +200 to win the C-USA title after their 30-11 win over UTEP in El Paso.
August 22: Liberty opens at +130, looking to bounce back after losing the 2024 championship game to Jacksonville State. Western Kentucky starts at +320. Jacksonville State sits at +1000 as defending champs. Louisiana Tech opens at +900 with an experienced roster.
2025 MAC Championship
Championship Game Result: Western Michigan beat Miami (OH) 23-13 at Ford Field in Detroit to capture the MAC title. Jalen Buckley delivered touchdown runs of 67 and 64 yards for the Broncos.
November 29: Miami (OH) clinches a MAC Championship spot by defeating Ball State, winning a three-way tiebreaker over Ohio and Toledo despite an identical 6-2 conference record.
September 29: Toledo bounces back from their loss to Western Michigan in a big way, thumping Akron 45-3. Their +350 MAC odds remain well back of Ohio’s +160.
August 22: Toledo opens at +240 as favorites despite Ohio’s breakthrough season. Ohio starts at +340 after winning their first MAC championship since 1968. Buffalo sits at +450 following a 7-1 MAC record in 2024, while Miami OH opens at +700.
2025 Mountain West Championship
Championship Game Result: Boise State pulled away from UNLV 38-21 to reclaim Mountain West supremacy and win their third consecutive conference title.
September 29: Coming off a bye in Week 5, Fresno State’s average MWC odds shorten from +800 to +683 heading into a Week 6 matchup against Nevada.
August 22: Boise State opens at -155 as overwhelming favorites after winning back-to-back Mountain West championships. San Jose State starts at +750, while UNLV sits at +850 following an 11-3 season and hosting the 2024 title game. Fresno State opens at +1100 with new coach Matt Entz arriving from North Dakota State.
2025 Sun Belt Championship
Championship Game Result: James Madison surged past Troy 31-14 to capture the Sun Belt title in their first eligible season, capping another dominant year.
September 29: Old Dominion sees their Sun Belt title odds shorten from +650 to +506 after the Monarchs’ 21-7 win over Liberty in non-conference play.
August 22: James Madison opens at +275 as favorites finally eligible after their transition period ends. Louisiana starts at +725, while Texas State and South Alabama both open at +750. Marshall sits at +850 after winning their first Sun Belt title. Troy opens at +1500 after winning back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023.
2023 Conference Championships
Florida State went 13-0 and got snubbed from the four-team CFP after Jordan Travis’s season-ending injury. Michigan ran the table to a third straight Big Ten and the national title. Texas left the Big 12 with one final conference championship. Alabama snapped Georgia’s 29-game winning streak in the SEC title game. Washington won the final Pac-12 before realignment broke up the conference.

2023 ACC Championship
Championship Game Result: Florida State defeated Louisville 16-6 to capture their first ACC title since 2014. The Seminoles completed a perfect 13-0 season.
October 16: Miami’s odds to win the ACC fade to +3833 following consecutive losses to Georgia Tech and North Carolina. Clemson (+1400) is back in the ACC Title conversation, with FSU (-183) remaining favored.
September 25: Clemson’s ACC Title odds fade to +2425 after losing in overtime to Florida State in Week 4, while the Seminoles’ odds improve to -154.
September 11: FSU is now the odds-on favorite to win the ACC at -112 after decimating Southern Miss 66-13 in Week 2. No other ACC team has shorter odds than +517 to win the conference.
September 5: Florida State secures an upset win over LSU in Week 1, leading them to overtake Clemson as the ACC favorite. The Seminoles’ average odds improve to +108, while the Tigers fade to +481 after losing to Duke.
May 15: After an impressive 10-3 season under Mike Norvell, Florida State opens as slight +165 favorites to win the ACC in 2023. The Seminoles feature the most returning production in the country, including Heisman-favorite QB Jordan Travis. Clemson is right behind FSU at +190.
2023 Big 12 Championship
Championship Game Result: Texas defeated Oklahoma State 49-21 to win their first Big 12 title since 2009 in their final season before departing for the SEC.
October 9: Oklahoma overtakes Texas as the Big 12 favorite following its 34-30 win over the Longhorns in the Red River Rivalry.
September 11: Texas sees a notable bump in its odds to win the Big 12 after upsetting No. 4 Alabama in Week 2. The Longhorns beat Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide 34-24, causing their Big 12 odds to improve from -106 to -134. Oklahoma (+302) still remains within striking distance.
September 4: Texas remains favored after Week 1 at -106, although Oklahoma’s average odds improve from +344 to +286 after the Sooners explode for 73 points in their season opener against Arkansas State.
May 15: After an impressive 10-2 campaign in year two under Steve Sarkisian, Texas enters the 2023 season as +115 favorites to win the Big 12. Led by quarterback Quinn Ewers, the Longhorns are loaded with talent for their final year in the conference. Oklahoma is the second choice at +330, while reigning champ TCU is a +2000 longshot.
2023 Big Ten Championship
Championship Game Result: Michigan defeated Iowa 26-0 to win their third consecutive Big Ten title and complete a perfect 13-0 regular season.
September 11: Michigan’s odds to win the Big Ten shorten to +140 after the Wolverines impress with a 35-7 win over UNLV. Ohio State fades to +210 after an underwhelming 35-7 win over Youngstown State.
September 4: Michigan is the new +168 favorite in the Big Ten odds after Ohio State (+193) underwhelms in Week 1. The Wolverines beat East Carolina 30-3, while the Buckeyes take down Indiana 23-3.
May 15: Although Michigan has won the Big Ten in back-to-back years, the odds favor Ohio State capturing the title in 2023. The Buckeyes have opened as +180 favorites despite losing CJ Stroud and other talent to the NFL. Michigan is right behind at +210, while Penn State (+500) and Wisconsin (+650) are other top contenders.
2023 Pac-12 Championship
Championship Game Result: Washington defeated Oregon 34-31 to capture the Pac-12 title in the conference’s final season before major realignment.
October 16: Washington overtakes Oregon as the Pac-12 favorite following the Huskies’ 36-33 win over the Ducks in Week 7. UW is now +136 to win the conference, while Oregon sits at +255.
September 25: Colorado’s Pac-12 odds lengthen to +5667 after the Buffs are dominated by Oregon in Week 4, losing 42-6. The Ducks’ odds improve to +260.
September 11: Colorado’s odds shorten to +1438 after pulling off another upset, this time over Nebraska in Week 2. The Buffs remain a considerable distance back of Pac-12 favorite USC (+200).
September 4: Longshot Colorado sees a massive odds boost after upsetting TCU in Week 1. Deion Sanders’ Buffaloes shorten from +8250 to +1635 after winning as 23.5-point underdogs.
May 15: USC opens as the Pac-12 favorite for the second straight year. The Trojans return Heisman winner Caleb Williams but must replace Jordan Addison. Oregon (+310) is viewed as USC’s biggest competition, with Washington (+430) and Utah (+470) also contending.
2023 SEC Championship
Championship Game Result: Alabama defeated Georgia 27-24 to win their 30th SEC title. The victory snapped Georgia’s 29-game winning streak and propelled Alabama to the College Football Playoff.
October 16: Missouri remains a huge longshot to win the SEC (+5000) despite a 38-21 win over Kentucky in Week 7. The Tigers face current SEC favorites Georgia (-150) in Week 10.
October 2: LSU’s odds lengthen from +375 to +833 after the Tigers suffer a 55-49 upset loss to Ole Miss. Alabama sees their odds shorten to +262 after a 40-17 win over Mississippi State.
September 11: Georgia’s odds shorten to -132 after throttling Ball State in Week 2, while Alabama’s odds lengthen to +316 after losing to Texas as touchdown favorites.
September 4: LSU’s odds fade to +633 after an upset loss to Florida State in Week 1, while Georgia remains favored at -111.
May 15: The opening odds imply that either Georgia or Alabama will win the conference for the ninth time in 10 years. The Bulldogs, back-to-back national champs, are favorites at +105. Alabama comes in at +220. LSU at +600 has the best chance to challenge.
2023 AAC Championship
Championship Game Result: SMU defeated Tulane 26-14 to win their first-ever AAC title before departing for the ACC in 2024.
May 29: Tulane opens as the +175 favorite to repeat as AAC Champion in 2023. The Green Wave are coming off an impressive 12-win season that earned them a No. 9 ranking. Memphis (+450) and SMU (+500) are viewed as the other top contenders.
2023 Conference USA Championship
Championship Game Result: Liberty defeated New Mexico State 49-35 to win their first Conference USA title in their inaugural season as members.
2023 MAC Championship
Championship Game Result: Miami (OH) defeated Toledo 23-14 to win their first MAC title since 2010.
May 29: Toledo, the reigning champ, opens as +170 favorites to win the MAC, while Ohio (+270) isn’t far behind. The Rockets return dual-threat QB Dequan Finn. The Bobcats return MAC Offensive Player of the Year QB Curtis Rourke and MAC Freshman of the Year RB Sieh Bangura.
2023 Mountain West Championship
Championship Game Result: Boise State defeated UNLV 44-20 to win their first Mountain West title since 2019.
May 29: Following a loss to Fresno State in the 2022 title game, Boise State opens as +185 favorites to win the Mountain West in 2023. Fresno State sits at +370 but must overcome the loss of QB Jake Haener, RB Jordan Mims, and WR Jalen Moreno-Cropper. Mountain West divisions have been abolished — the two teams with the best regular-season records play for the title.
2023 Sun Belt Championship
Championship Game Result: Troy defeated Coastal Carolina 49-23 to win their second consecutive Sun Belt title.
2022 Conference Championships
Three undefeated teams — Georgia, Michigan, and TCU — entered conference championship weekend with national title hopes. Georgia and Michigan held serve. TCU lost to Kansas State in overtime but still snuck into the CFP. USC fell to Utah in the Pac-12 title game and got bumped from the playoff. Clemson got back to the ACC title game after a one-year absence and beat North Carolina.

2022 ACC Championship
Championship Game Result: Clemson defeated North Carolina 39-10 to win the ACC title and reclaim the throne after a one-year break.
November 14: The 2022 ACC Championship is set, with Clemson (-243) and North Carolina (+200) squaring off in Charlotte on December 3.
November 7: Clemson suffered its first loss of the season to Notre Dame in Week 10, causing its ACC odds to lengthen to -360. North Carolina is the second favorite at +280.
October 17: Clemson’s odds continue to shorten. As the only remaining undefeated ACC team through eight weeks, the Tigers are now heavy -500 favorites.
October 3: Clemson won the marquee ACC showdown against NC State in Week 5. The Tigers’ odds improved to -225, while the Wolfpack faded to +1950.
June 30: After Clemson’s six straight ACC titles came to an end in 2021, Dabo Swinney’s Tigers open as -130 favorites to reclaim the conference. Miami is second at +500 in year one under Mario Cristobal. Defending champ Pittsburgh sits at +900 as they replace Kenny Pickett.
2022 Big 12 Championship
Championship Game Result: Kansas State stunned undefeated TCU 31-28 in overtime in Arlington to win the Big 12 title. TCU still made the CFP despite the loss.
November 14: TCU kept its undefeated season alive with an upset win over Texas in Week 11, causing its Big 12 title odds to improve to -140 — the first time this season there is an odds-on favorite.
November 7: TCU is the only undefeated Big 12 team through 10 weeks at +110. Texas (+180) isn’t far behind. The two square off in Week 11.
October 17: After eight weeks, the Big 12 race has narrowed to Texas, TCU, Kansas State, and Oklahoma State. The Longhorns (+180) have pulled in front with Quinn Ewers back at quarterback.
September 26: A wild Week 4 caused a seismic shakeup. Baylor (+360) is now the favorite to repeat after preseason favorite Oklahoma (+375) suffered an upset loss to Kansas State (+450).
June 30: Oklahoma’s six-year reign atop the Big 12 ended in 2021. The Sooners begin a new era with Brent Venables taking over. OU opens as the Big 12 favorite at +185, with Texas at +270.
2022 Big Ten Championship
Championship Game Result: Michigan defeated Purdue 43-22 in Indianapolis to win back-to-back Big Ten titles and secure a CFP berth.
November 7: Michigan is closing the gap on Ohio State in the Big Ten odds. The Wolverines sit at +350, while the Buckeyes are -400 with their Week 13 showdown looming.
October 17: Illinois is the surprise team. The Illini are now the fourth favorite at +2150 after back-to-back wins over Iowa and Minnesota.
September 26: Minnesota (+775) is now the third favorite after a dominant 34-7 win over Michigan State in Week 4. The Spartans have faded to +12500 amidst a disappointing 2-2 start.
June 30: Ohio State opens as the favorite to win the Big Ten despite their four-year reign ending in 2021. The Buckeyes open at -210 with Heisman favorite QB CJ Stroud returning. Defending champ Michigan is the only team within range at +600.
2022 Pac-12 Championship
Championship Game Result: Utah defeated USC 47-24 in Las Vegas to repeat as Pac-12 champions and knock the Trojans out of CFP contention.
November 14: Preseason favorite USC (+200) is back to being the favorite to win the Pac-12 after Oregon suffered an upset loss to Washington in Week 11. The race is far from over — Oregon (+210) and Utah (+210) have similar odds.
November 7: Oregon is pulling away as the Pac-12 favorite. The Ducks’ odds have shortened to +105 amidst an eight-game winning streak.
October 17: Utah won the huge Pac-12 showdown against USC in Week 7, causing the Trojans’ odds to fade to +265. Oregon (+155) is the new Pac-12 favorite.
September 26: Utah (+168) has overtaken USC (+190) as the Pac-12 favorite despite the Trojans being undefeated and the Utes having a loss to Florida.
June 30: USC opens as +175 favorites after a wild offseason in LA. The Trojans poached Lincoln Riley and Caleb Williams from Oklahoma, plus 20-plus transfer portal additions. Utah is second at +280 after winning the 2021 Pac-12.
2022 SEC Championship
Championship Game Result: No. 1 Georgia destroyed No. 14 LSU 50-30 in Atlanta to win back-to-back SEC titles. Stetson Bennett threw for four touchdowns.
November 14: The SEC Championship is set after Alabama edged out Ole Miss in Week 11. Georgia (-750) and LSU (+525) face off in Atlanta on December 3.
November 7: Georgia is the heavy SEC favorite (-450) following a huge win over No. 1 Tennessee in Week 10. Alabama’s odds faded to +1500 after a second loss at the hands of LSU.
October 17: Tennessee upset Alabama in Week 7 to hand the Tide its first loss. Oddsmakers aren’t overly confident in the Vols’ SEC chances, pricing Tennessee (+650) a distant third behind Bama (+143) and Georgia (-108).
September 19: Georgia has overtaken Alabama as the SEC favorite. The Bulldogs are off to a dominant 4-0 start, while the Tide narrowly avoided an upset loss to Texas.
June 30: Alabama opens as the SEC favorite after losing to Georgia in the National Championship. The Tide return Heisman winner Bryce Young and Will Anderson at -140. Georgia is the second favorite at +150.
2022 AAC Championship
Championship Game Result: Tulane beat UCF 45-28 at Yulman Stadium to win their first AAC title and earn a Cotton Bowl berth — the program’s first major bowl since 1939. Michael Pratt threw for 394 yards and five total touchdowns.
September 26: Cincinnati remains the AAC favorite after Week 4, but UCF (+295) has overtaken Houston (+413) as the second favorite.
September 6: Cincinnati remains the AAC favorite after Week 1, although the Bearcats faded from +145 to +185 after a close loss to Arkansas. UCF (+255) is closing in on Houston (+233).
June 30: Cincinnati opens as +140 favorites to win a third straight AAC title after their CFP appearance. Houston (+270) and UCF (+350) are close behind with Desmond Ridder gone.
2022 Conference USA Championship
Championship Game Result: UTSA beat North Texas 48-27 at the Alamodome to win their second straight Conference USA title. Frank Harris took home MVP honors.
June 30: UTSA opens as +200 favorites to repeat as Conference USA champions. The Roadrunners welcome back quarterback Frank Harris and added Arkansas running back Trelon Smith via the transfer portal. UAB is second at +210.
2022 MAC Championship
Championship Game Result: Toledo beat Ohio 17-7 at Ford Field to win the MAC, their first conference title since 2017.
September 26: Toledo has emerged as the new MAC favorite following the first four weeks of the season. The Rockets lead all MAC teams in total defense through four games.
June 30: Central Michigan opens as +380 MAC favorites, with Toledo (+410) and Miami-OH (+460) close behind. Defending MAC champion Northern Illinois is +600 to repeat.
2022 Mountain West Championship
Championship Game Result: Fresno State beat Boise State 28-16 at Albertsons Stadium to win the Mountain West, with Jake Haener earning Offensive MVP honors.
September 26: Preseason favorite Boise State faded to +330 following a 2-2 start. The Broncos fired offensive coordinator Tim Plough after an ugly 27-10 loss to UTEP, prompting QB Hank Bachmeier to transfer out.
June 30: Boise State opens as +210 Mountain West favorites. The Broncos enter year two under Andy Avalos with QB Hank Bachmeier back. Fresno State (+250), Air Force (+470), and San Diego State (+600) are expected to contend.
2022 Sun Belt Championship
Championship Game Result: Troy beat Coastal Carolina 45-26 at Veterans Memorial Stadium to win the Sun Belt, their first conference title since 2017. Gunnar Watson threw for 318 yards and three long touchdowns.
September 26: Preseason co-favorite Louisiana-Lafayette has faded to +1200 amidst a 2-2 start. Coastal Carolina (+370) is the only Sun Belt team to win each of its first four games.
June 30: Appalachian State (+200) and Louisiana-Lafayette (+210) open as Sun Belt co-favorites. Coastal Carolina (+500) returns QB Grayson McCall but faces significant losses on both sides of the ball.
2021 Conference Championships
Georgia and Alabama met in the SEC title game for the second straight year, with Bama winning before Georgia exacted revenge in the national title game.
