Since the 2018 NFL season, I have been tracking NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year futures from the time they open each season, right through to the award being handed out. I have documented all of the opening OROY futures, as well as how and why the odds have changed each year, below. You can use the jump-links to go to a specific season or take a scroll through.

2025 NFL OROY Odds

I tracked the 2025-26 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds from the time they opened, throughout the 2025-2026 NFL season, and right up until the award was handed out. The highly-coveted RB from Boise State, Ashton Jeanty, who was drafted by the Raiders, opened as the favorite, but both Jeanty and Cam Ward, the first-overall pick, struggled in their first season and fell down the board rather quickly.

Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan went on to win the 2025-26 NFL OROY award, but he was far from a runaway winner. At the midpoint of the season, McMillan was given lengthy 26-1 odds. You can see how the odds changed throughout the 2025-26 NFL season below, along with some notes on what led to the odds movement.

Sports Betting Dime

When odds opened to win the award, it was Ashton Jeanty and Cam Ward in their own class as the favorites, followed by Shedeur Sanders, and then rest of the field. McMillan found himself in that third wave of contenders with +1200 odds at opening. But after Tet finished his rookie campaign with 1,014 yards and seven touchdowns, he had clearly put together the most impressive campaign among rookies.

QBs Jaxson Dart and Tyler Shough had the second and third-best OROY odds at closing, respectively. Both QBs missed notable time due to injuries and neither began the season as their team’s starter. But both made this race very interesting at different points of the season.

Here were the top NFL OROY contenders following Week 18:

  1. Tetairoa McMillan (-1350 consensus odds)
  2. Jaxson Dart (+900)
  3. Tyler Shough (+1900)
  4. Emeka Egbuka (+12500)
  5. TreVeyon Henderson (+20800)

These were the five players named as finalists for the award.

With a number of the top picks from the draft struggling in their first season, we saw a lot of movement in the NFL OROY odds. Here are some more notes on odds movement:

  • [December 23] TreVeyon Henderson, who was favored entering Week 16, suffered an injury early in the Patriots’ Week 16 matchup, which saw his odds tank, opening the door for Tetairoa McMillan to take back over as the favorite after recording another touchdown in Week 16.
  • [December 16] A monster performance against the Bills in Week 15 was the reason for TreVeyon Henderson taking over as the OROY favorite for the first time.
  • [November 25] It only took a 35-yard, 1 touchdown performance from Tetairoa McMillan for sportsbooks to move him to the new OROY favorite after Week 12.
  • [November 11] Egbuka took back over as the favorite following a 115-yard performance that was paired with Dart suffering a concussion and his head coach being fired.
  • [October 14] A big win over the Eagles in Week 6, paired with Emeka Egbuka suffering a hamstring injury, saw Jaxson Dart take over as the clear favorite to win OROY.
  • [September 22] A quiet Week 3 from Tyler Warren allowed Emeka Egbuka to take over as the OROY favorite.
  • [September 16] Though some sportsbooks were still favoring Ashton Jeanty after Week 2, the majority were calling Colts tight end Tyler Warren the favorite following another strong game to start his NFL career.
  • [August 15] Emeka Egbuka’s NFL OROY odds improved from +3000 to +2375 after it started to become more clear that Chris Godwin would not be ready for Week 1, and might miss more than a couple weeks. Tyler Shough saw his odds go the other way, worsening from +1250 to +2125, as he struggled to separate himself from Spencer Rattler in the Saints’ QB battle.
  • [July 10] Omarion Hampton saw his average OROY odds shorten from +1250 to +1100 after his backfield mate, Najee Harris, reportedly suffered an eye injury from a July 4 fireworks incident. With Harris sidelined, Hampton was expected to see more of the preseason work.
  • [May 6] Sportsbooks started to cool a little on Tyler Shough’s OROY odds. DraftKings was giving him as short as +1200 odds immediately after the draft, but they lengthened those odds to +2200 likely due to a lack of money coming in. Will Howard, on the other hand, saw his odds improve dramatically at certain sportsbooks, going from an average of +5250 after the draft wrapped up, to as short as +2500 at DraftKings. This is the result of no deal being signed between the Steelers and Aaron Rodgers at this point.
  • [April 26] In spite of falling all the way to the 5th round, where the Browns selected him at 144th-overall, sportsbooks still felt Shedeur Sanders wound up in a good enough home for his OROY probabilities. Sanders was getting +800 odds to win the award pre-draft, but his odds only slipped to +1500 after his draft free-fall.
  • [April 25] Tyler Shough saw some of the most significant odds movement after Day 2 of the NFL Draft, as the Saints made him the 40th-overall pick. The former Louisville QB is believed to have a chance to see the field right away with Derek Carr suffering through a shoulder injury, where the severity and timeline for return is unknown after the draft. Shough’s OROY odds opened at a distant +6000, but improved to as short as +1200 at DraftKings. His odds could still be found as long as +2200, though. Another player who saw massive movement was RJ Harvey, who was drafted 60th-overall by the Broncos. Harvey did not even have opening odds at BetRivers ahead of the draft, but FanDuel opened him at +17000 after the first round. His odds shortened to +5000 after joining Sean Payton’s offense.
  • [April 24] For whatever reason, NFL OROY odds opened much later this year than in previous seasons. It could have been the uncertainty around how much offense Travis Hunter would play, or maybe just sportsbooks setting a new precedent of not opening themselves up to potential exposures before they know which teams these rookies will be playing for. Regardless, NFL OROY odds opened the day of the draft and saw Ashton Jeanty open as a heavy +250 favorite. Cam Ward, Travis Hunter, and Shedeur Sanders also opened with odds shorter than 9-1.

2024 NFL OROY Odds

I tracked 2024-25 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds from the time they opened, all through the 2024-2025 NFL season, and right up until the award was handed out. Sports betting apps opened NFL OROY odds for the 2024-25 season nearly a week before the NFL Draft.

While Caleb Williams, the highly-touted first-overall pick, opened as a pretty heavy favorite to win the 2024-25 Offensive Rookie of the Year award, his reign as the favorite did not last long once rookies took the field. Williams struggled in his rookie season, as did the entire Bears organization, opening the door for Jayden Daniels to completely run away with the award. You can see how the 2024 NFL OROY odds changed throughout the season below, along with notes on why big movements occurred.

Sports Betting Dime

The NFL Draft odds were correct in predicting the Chicago Bears would take Caleb Williams with the first-overall pick, putting him in an offense surrounded by the talents of DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, D’Andre Swift, as well as the ninth-overall pick Rome Odunze. The new Bears quarterback opened as the favorite to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year for the 2024-25 NFL season, and his odds only got better after Chicago added another receiver to his arsenal. But then came time to take the field and prove it, which the Bears offense never did.

Williams was no longer the favorite to win the award pretty early in the season, as Jayden Daniels took over after a great game in Week 3 and remained the favorite from then on.

This rookie crop featured a great class of wide receivers, namely Marvin Harrison Jr, Malik Nabers, and Rome Odunze, who were the first three receivers off the board in the NFL Draft, and all had short odds to win the award prior to the draft. However, Xavier Worthy saw the biggest odds improvement based on which team drafted him, as he got to team up with Patrick Mahomes on the Chiefs.

None of that mattered, though, as Jayden Daniels became the heavy favorite. No sportsbook even opened odds following Week 17’s conclusion, and FanDuel was the only sportsbook to offer odds after Week 18, listing Daniels at -20000.

Jayden Daniels closed as the heavy favorite to win NFL OROY for the 2024-25 NFL season. Daniels was given -20000 odds to take home the award, and his probability to win it based on those odds was 99.5%.

Rounding out the top five OROY contenders the last time odds were available were: Brock Bowers (+2500), Bo Nix (+10000), Bucky Irving (+30000), and Malik Nabers (+30000).

Here are some more notes on odds movement for the 2024 OROY award:

  • [January 6] FanDuel was the only sportsbook to reopen NFL OROY odds after Week 18, and they favored Jayden Daniels at -20000 odds.
  • [December 31] Sportsbooks did not reopen NFL OROY odds following Week 17, which included another great performance from Jayden Daniels. It’s likely betting apps just believe Daniels has wrapped up the award.
  • [December 23] Jayden Daniels’ impressive come-from-behind win over the Eagles in Week 16 has all-but locked up the NFL OROY for the Commanders QB. Daniels’ odds improved from -750 to -10000 after Week 16. Bo Nix, who was pressing Daniels for a couple weeks, saw his odds fade from +1200 to +10000 after an awful second-half collapse against the Chargers in Week 16.
  • [December 17] Bo Nix’s struggles in Week 14 and 15, which included a combined five interceptions and just 130 passing yards against a bad Colts defense, Jayden Daniels took a commanding lead in the OROY odds again. Daniels’ odds improved from -274 to -1295 after Week 15.
  • [November 26] Another strong performance from Bo Nix in Week 12 continued to tighten the gap between him and Jayden Daniels in NFL OROY odds. Nix’s odds improved from +388 to +150, while Daniels’ odds faded from -525 to -135 after his Commanders lost to the Cowboys at home in Week 12.
  • [November 18] Jayden Daniels’ loss to the Eagles on TNF of Week 11, along with Bo Nix’s monster performance against the Falcons, has resulted in Daniels’ OROY odds going from -1200 to -400. He is still a heavy favorite, but not as favored as he was heading into the week. Nix’s odds, on the other hand, improved from +3000 to +300 after throwing for 307 yards and four touchdowns.
  • [October 29] Daniels did not miss any games with his rib injury, and used a miraculous Hail Mary to take down Caleb Williams’ Bears in Week 8. The result in the OROY odds was Daniels moving from -115 to -400, while Williams faded from +108 to +1000.
  • [October 22] In spite of being listed as week-to-week, and likely to miss at least one game, following Week 7, Jayden Daniels remained the NFL OROY favorite after suffering a rib injury against the Panthers. Daniels did see his odds worsen a little, though, as Caleb Williams shortens the gap between the two.
  • [October 8] Caleb Williams’ NFL OROY odds have begun to bounce back after the first-overall pick seems to be putting it together. Williams’ odds improved from +662 to +300, the second-best odds following Week 5. Jayden Daniels’ odds continued to improve as well, though.
  • [October 1] Jayden Daniels became the first odds-on favorite to win NFL OROY this season, following another great game from the QB in Week 4. Daniels’ OROY odds improved from +155 to -120.
  • [September 23] Marvin Harrison Jr did not last as the OROY favorite for long, as Jayden Daniels took over after Week 3. Daniels was lethal with his arm and legs in a big win over the Bengals. His odds improved from +300 to +150. Bo Nix also saw significant odds movement after leading the Broncos to a win over the Bucs in Week 3. Nix went from +3500 to +1500, becoming a top five contender at this time.
  • [September 16] For the first time this season, Caleb Williams is not the favorite to win NFL OROY. It only took two games in Chicago for Williams to fall from the top, allowing Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr to take over as the new favorite. Though Harrison exploded in Week 2 with 130 receiving yardd and two touchdowns, the change in OROY favorite is more about Williams’ struggles. The Bears signal-caller followed up an ugly 93-yard performance in Week 1 with 174 passing yards and two interceptions in Week 2.
  • [September 10] Nearly every top rookie on the offensive side of the ball struggled in Week 1. Caleb Williams completed less than 50% of his passes and only managed 93 yards. Marvin Harrison Jr only had one catch for four yards. Bo Nix only tallied 138 yards on 42 pass attempts and threw two bad interceptions. Malik Nabers was held back by yet another awful game from Daniel Jones, but I wouldn’t say he struggled. This wasn’t the case for Jayden Daniels and Xavier Worthy, though. Daniels wasn’t exceptional, but did complete nearly 71% of his passes for 184 yards and added another 88 yards on the ground. Worthy racked up 68 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns. Daniels’ OROY odds improved slightly after his performance, while Worthy went from +2050 to +1200.
  • [August 29] Drake Maye’s NFL OROY odds fell from +1350 to +1700 after Jacoby Brissett was named the Week 1 starter for the Patriots.
  • [August 27] After Bo Nix was named the Broncos starting quarterback for Week 1, his NFL OROY odds improved from +1400 to +1050.
  • [August 14] The Vikings have announced that QB JJ McCarthy will miss the entire 2024 NFL season after surgery to repair his meniscus. McCarthy’s NFL OROY odds had faded as long as +4000 prior to the announcement, but he will now be out of the running for the award.
  • [July 24] With Sam Darnold being all the talk out of Vikings camp, we are seeing JJ McCarthy’s NFL OROY odds plummet from as short as +900 after the draft to +1700 in late July. The move has seen McCarthy tumble from the third-best odds to the sixth-best, falling behind Malik Nabers and Bo Nix.
  • [June 1] Money coming in on Jayden Daniels has resulted in his odds improving from an average of +775 to +617. The improvement, along with a slight dip in Marvin Harrison Jr’s odds, now has Daniels possessing the second-best odds to win the award.
  • [April 26] The player selected on Day 2 of the NFL Draft who benefited most from their landing spot was Keon Coleman, who was selected by the Bills with the 33rd-overall pick (first pick of the second round). Coleman’s OROY odds improved from +5000 to as short as +2500, as he potentially becomes Josh Allen’s go-to wide receiver in Buffalo. Running backs were flying off the board on the second day of the draft as well, and Jonathon Brooks is the back who saw his odds improve the most. Brooks was the first RB selected and is expected to be the lead back in Carolina right away. His odds went from +5000 to +3400 after he was drafted. Blake Corum, on the other hand, saw his odds go from +5000 to +8000 after being selected by the Rams, where he will likely backup Kyren Williams to at least start the year.
  • [April 25] The first round of the NFL Draft brought plenty of big OROY odds movement. Starting with quarterbacks, we saw JJ McCarthy drafted tenth-overall by the Vikings, resulting in his odds improving from as long as +1600 to as short as +800. Bo Nix, who was drafted 12th-overall by the Broncos, saw his OROY odds improve from +3500 to +1600, as he expects to walk in and start in Denver. Michael Penix Jr, on the other hand, is now an afterthought in NFL OROY odds, as he went from +1800 to +6000 since he’ll be backing up Kirk Cousins in Atlanta. Malik Nabers, who had the third-best odds prior to the draft, saw his odds fade from as short as +700 to as long as +1400 when he was selected by the Giants. Rome Odunze’s NFL OROY odds suffered a similar fate when he was drafted by the Bears, who now have an awful lot of mouths to feed. Odunze’s odds were as short as +1000 before the draft but are now as long as +2500. The receiver who benefitted the most from the team who drafted him is Xavier Worthy. The new Chiefs wide receiver was as long as +4000 to win OROY before the draft, but is now as short as +1600.
  • [April 19] Sportsbooks, namely DraftKings, has opened the odds to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year for the 2024-25 NFL season, despite not knowing where any of these incoming rookies will be playing yet. Caleb Williams has opened as a pretty heavy favorite with +275 odds. Marvin Harrison Jr opened with the second-best odds at +550.

2023 NFL OROY Odds

I tracked the 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds from the time they opened, through the 2023-2024 NFL season, and right up until the award was handed out. Sports betting apps had opened NFL OROY odds even before the NFL Draft took place, and had Bijan Robinson as the early favorite.

As we know, Robinson did not win the award. CJ Stroud of the Texans had a phenomenal rookie campaign and took home the NFL OROY honors. You can check out the opening 2023 NFL OROY odds as well as how the odds changed throughout the offseason, regular season, and right up to closing below. The graphs were generated by averaging the odds from our top sportsbooks.

Sports Betting Dime

After beating the Steelers in Week 4, CJ Stroud became the new favorite to win NFL MVP and basically ran away with the award. Puka Nacua would make things slightly interesting late in the season, largely because Stroud was forced to miss two games with a concussion. But the Rams receiver couldn’t do enough to take the OROY award from Stroud. It is worth noting that Stroud is the first Houston Texan to ever win Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Even though the NFL Draft odds nailed quarterbacks coming off the board early and often, it was a running back who opened as the favorite to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Former Texas running back Bijan Robinson, who was selected eighth-overall by the Falcons, opened with +450 odds and saw those odds improve to +300 after the first round of the draft. He saw his odds fade quickly after a hot start to the season, though, seeing odds as long as +12000.

The AP announced CJ Stroud, Puka Nacua, Jahmyr Gibbs, Sam LaPorta, and Bijan Robisnon as the NFL OROY finalists. Sadly, we did not see NFL OROY odds reopen following the completion of the regular season.

Here are some more notes on odds movement:

  • [January 25] CJ Stroud, Puka Nacua, Jahmyr Gibbs, Sam LaPorta, and Bijan Robinson have been named NFL OROY finalists.
  • [November 12] Stroud became an extremely heavy favorite with -1000 odds to win NFL OROY after beating the Bengals in Week 10.
  • [November 6] CJ Stroud’s 470 passing yards against the Buccaneers in Week 9 is a new single-game rookie record. The Texans QB saw his OROY odds improve from -180 to -500 as a result.
  • [October 29] After a second consecutive big game, Jordan Addison has shot up the board and has the third-best odds to win NFL OROY after Week 8. The Vikings receiver has come on strong since Justin Jefferson went down with an injury, but his chances of winning the award may have taken a big hit with his QB Kirk Cousins likely being done for the season now.
  • [October 16] CJ Stroud has moved to an odds-on favorite to win NFL OROY after he led the Texans to a win over the Saints. With news of Anthony Richardson potentially considering season-ending surgery, the Colts QB no longer has odds to win Offensive Rookie of the Year
  • [October 9] Following a two-interception game in Week 5, the first-overall pick from the 2023 NFL Draft, Bryce Young, is no longer among the top 20 contenders in NFL OROY odds. Aidan O’Connell had better odds in this moment. Anthony Richardson and De’Von Achane have also fallen way off, moving from +850 to +2000 and +400 to +2500, respectively, due to a injuries that are expected to keep the rookies out for an extended period.
  • [October 1] CJ Stroud threw for 306 yards and two touchdowns in the Texans’ upset win over the Steelers in Week 4. As a result, Stroud has taken over as the new favorite to win NFL OROY. Stroud’s odds improved from +450 to +200. Puka Nacua (+425) and De’Von Achane (+450), two guys who were way down the board to start the season, have the next best odds to win the award.
  • [September 25] The NFL OROY race has become much closer, according to the odds, after Week 3. Bijan Robinson was relatively quiet in the Falcons’ loss to the Lions, only totaling 60 yards from scrimmage, and saw his odds fade from +175 to +330. Anthony Richardson did not play in Week 3 due to a concussion and his odds went from +225 to +450. CJ Stroud, on the other hand, threw for 280 yards in Houston’s upset win over the Jaguars, and saw his odds improve from +1200 to +450 as a result. The biggest movement, however, came from De’Von Achane, who totaled 233 yards from scrimmage and four touchdowns in Miami’s blowout of the Broncos. Achane’s NFL OROY odds went from +5000 to +1000. Quentin Johnston also saw significant movement, going from +7500 to +4500, after it was confirmed fellow Charger Mike Williams would be out for the rest of the season. The assumption is Johnston will see plenty more opportunity now in an elite passing offense.
  • [September 18] Bijan Robinson exploded in Week 2 with 172 yards from scrimmage in helping lead Atlanta to a win over the Packers. Robinson’s NFL OROY odds improved from +250 to +175. In spite of only playing one quarter in Week 2, Anthony Richardson’s odds also improved, going from +500 to +225. The Colts’ QB did score two rushing touchdowns before leaving the game with a concussion. Puka Nacua continues to impress in LA and now has the third-best odds to win OROY. Nacua went from +4000 to +700 after Week 2.
  • [September 11] Anthony Richardson has the second-best odds to win NFL OROY after Week 1. Richardson put forth an encouraging effort and threw for a touchdown while adding one on the ground as well. He overtook Bryce Young for the second-best odds after Young’s odds faded from +500 to +700 after throwing two interceptions in his debut. The biggest moves came from Ravens WR Zay Flowers, who improved from +1800 to +1100 after catching nine balls for 78 yards, and Puka Nacua, who went from extremely long +15000 odds to +4000 after hauling in ten catches for 119 yards.
  • [September 5] Jaxon Smith-Njigba has seen his odds fade from +1500 to +2000 after suffering a wrist injury in Seattle’s second preseason game. JSN’s status for Week 1 is currently looking doubtful. Zay Flowers’ NFL OROY odds are moving in the other direction after dazzling throughout camp. Flowers saw his odds improve from +3000 to +1800.
  • [June 2] With positive reports coming out of Colts camp about Anthony Richardson, the QB has seen his OROY odds improve from +900 to +600, the third-best odds on the board.
  • [April 28] Bijan Robinson, who was already the favorite to win NFL OROY, saw his odds improve from +450 to +300 after being drafted eighth-overall by the Atlanta Falcons. Robinson joins an offense that rushed for the third-most yards per game and fourth-most yards per carry last season. Jaxon Smith-Njigba also saw positive movement after he was drafted by the Seahawks, seeing his odds go from +1000 to +650. Will Levis, who was not taken in the first round, saw his odds fade from +1200 to +2500 with him now likely joining a team where he will play backup for at least a year.
  • [April 21] Just less than a week before the NFL Draft, we saw sportsbooks open NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds. All sportsbooks opened running back Bijan Robinson as the favorite with quarterback Bryce Young close behind.

2022 NFL OROY Odds

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson won the 2022 NFL OROY award. Wilson was not seen as the favorite early on, though, as Kenny Pickett and Malik Willis opened as the favorites. I tracked 2022 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds from the time they opened, all through the 2022-2023 NFL season, and right up until the award was handed out. Look back at the 2022 OROY odds to see when sportsbooks started to move towards Wilson.

Sports Betting Dime

Even though the NFL Draft odds suggested no quarterbacks were going to hear their names called that early on April 28, Malik Willis and Kenny Pickett still opened as the co-favorites to win the NFL OROY award.

The odds were correct, as no quarterback was taken until the 20th-overall pick when the Steelers called Pickett’s name. Pickett still remained the favorite to win NFL OROY after the first-round was complete, but Malik Willis saw his odds fade significantly.

After Week 1, we see George Pickens and Jahan Dotson listed as the co-favorites. We had a new favorite after Week 2: Drake London. Saints wide receiver Chris Olave was given the best odds to win the award after Week 4. Olave was joined by Dameon Pierce as the two were co-favored to win the award following Week 5. We had another new favorite after Week 6: Breece Hall. Unfortunately, Hall tore his ACL in Week 7, moving Kenneth Walker III atop the board. Injury resulted in the top of the board seeing a new name again after Week 14, as Garrett Wilson took over for Walker III. Ahead of Week 18, Walker took back over as the favorite.

Odds did not reopen following Week 18, as was the case for every other NFL player award.

Closing Odds to Win 2022 NFL OROY

Player Pos Team Odds to win 2022 NFL OROY
Kenneth Walker III RB Seahawks -110
Garrett Wilson WR Jets +150
Brock Purdy QB 49ers +500
Kenny Pickett QB Steelers +2000
Christian Watson WR Packers +2500
Chris Olave WR Saints +2500
Brian Robinson Jr RB Commanders +2500
Isiah Pacheco RB Chiefs +4000
Tyler Allgeier RB Falcons +10000

*Odds as of January 3

Kenneth Walker III was the favorite to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year the last time odds were available. However, it was Garrett Wilson of the Jets who took home NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors for the 2022-23 NFL season.

Here are some more notes on odds movement:

  • [January 3] After a second straight quiet week for Garrett Wilson—only recorded 18 receiving yards on three receptions in Week 17—Kenneth Walker III has taken back over as the NFL OROY favorite. Wilson was held in check by Walker’s Seahawks, while Seattle’s rookie RB ran for 133 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. Walker went from +500 odds to win the award to -110. Wilson faded from -200 to +150.
  • [December 19] Garrett Wilson has moved to the odds-on favorite to win NFL OROY, as his odds improved from +150 to -120 after pulling in four receptions for 98 yards against the Lions in Week 15.
  • [December 12] After Kenneth Walker missed Week 14 due to injury, Garrett Wilson has taken over as the new favorite to win NFL OROY. Wilson’s odds improved from +250 to +175 after he logged six catches for 78 yards against the Bills. Walker now has the second-best odds, fading from +150 to +300. Brock Purdy, who only received odds a week ago, moved from +20000 to +2000 after a great first start against the Bucs.
  • [December 5] Kenneth Walker left the Seahawks Week 13 game with a jammed ankle and there has not been any timetable for the running back’s return. Walker’s NFL ORY odds went from -200 to +150, but he does remain the favorite at the moment.
  • [November 28] After his second straight week with just eight rushing yards, Dameon Pierce has seen his odds dip from +400 to +800. The dip has resulted in Pierce falling to third on the board, allowing Chris Olave to move into second.
  • [November 21] After Christian Watson hauled in two more touchdowns in Week 11, totaling five in a two-week span, the Packers wide receiver saw his NFL OROY odds improve from +6000 to +1600, which are the fourth-best odds on the board.
  • [November 15] Kenneth Walker has become the odds-on favorite to win NFL OROY, as his odds improved from +110 to -150. It is the first time this season that we have seen anyone with better than +100 odds to win the award.
  • [November 8] After running for 109 yards and two touchdowns against the Cardinals in Week 9, Kenneth Walker’s NFL OROY odds are nearing even money. He has improved from +185 to +110. This award is looking to be a two-horse race halfway through the season, with Walker and Dameon Pierce both getting better than 2-1 odds.
  • [October 24] Sadly, Breece Hall tore his ACL in Week 7 – his first game played after becoming the favorite to win NFL OROY. With Hall likely done for the season, fellow RB Kenneth Walker III has taken over as the new favorite. Walker’s odds improved from +750 to +200 after running for 168 yards and two touchdowns in the Seahawks win over the Chargers in Week 7. Both DraftKings and FanDuel have refunded all bets on Hall to win OROY as a nice move to their customers.
  • [October 18] After rushing for 116 yards in the Jets’ win over the Packers in Week 6, Breece Hall is the new favorite to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Hall’s odds improved from +700 to +275. Kenneth Walker III also saw major odds movement, as he went from +2500 to +750 in his first game without Rashaad Penny.
  • [October 10] Dameon Pierce has seen his odds improve from +650 to +500, which is tied with Chris Olave for the best odds to win NFL OROY. Pierce becomes the co-favorite after 113 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown against the Jaguars in Week 5.
  • [October 3] Chris Olave’s odds have shortened from +800 to +500 after catching four passes for 67 yards and a touchdown against the Vikings in London. Meanwhile, Kenny Pickett made his debut in Pittsburgh and despite throwing three interceptions his odds have shortened from +1600 to +1200. The backup to the backup, Bailey Zappe was forced into action for the Patriots after Brian Hoyer went down injured, and his OROY odds are now +2200
  • [September 27] After a huge game where he pulled in nine receptions for 147 yards, the Saints’ Chris Olave has seen his NFL OROY odds improve from +1200 to +700, the second-best odds to win the award. Romeo Doubs’ eight receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown saw his odds move from+1600 to +900.
  • [September 19] Drake London recorded eight receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown in Week 2. London’s nice day has resulted in him becoming the new favorite to win NFL OROY. His odds improved from +1000 to +600.
  • [September 12] With Mitchell Trubisky getting the Steelers a win in Week 1, Kenny Pickett’s NFL OROY odds faded from +900 to +1400, signaling the rookie’s time may not be nearing. Oddly enough, George Pickens, who only had one catch for three yards in his debut, is now the co-favorite alongside Jahan Dotson, who hauled in two touchdowns against the Jaguars, to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Dotson was +2250 entering Week 1, but is now just +900.
  • [September 7] Despite seeing Mitchell Trubisky win the QB battle in Pittsburgh, Kenny Pickett remains the favorite to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. He leads the field by a very slim margin, though. Pickett’s odds are +875 while all of George Pickens, Dameon Pierce, Chris Olave, and Breece Hall are shorter than +1100. Pierce, who has received a lot of hype this offseason, has seen his odds improve from +5000 at opening to +1000 now, which are third-best on the board.
  • [May 6] Steelers GM Kevin Colbert praised Kenny Pickett’s readiness today, comparing him to Joe Burrow when he came out of LSU. Colbert believes Pickett basically spent his NFL rookie season at Pitt when he decided to return for a fifth year. All this talk about Pickett being ready to play in the NFL bodes well for his chances to start Week 1, which has resulted in him becoming the favorite to win NFL OROY again. Pickett’s odds improved from +600 to +500, while Drake London, who was favored for a brief few days, has faded to +750, tying him for the second-best odds with Treylon Burks.
  • [May 2] After the conclusion of the NFL Draft, Drake London has become the new favorite to win NFL OROY. London’s odds improved from +600 to +550, while the former favorite, Kenny Pickett, saw his odds fade from +450 to +600. Malik Willis, who wasn’t taken until the third-round by the Titans, saw his odds plummet from +750 to +1400 with the likelihood of him spending his rookie season on the bench behind Ryan Tannehill. James Cook saw his odds go the other way when he was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the second-round. Cook went from +4600 to +1500. Skyy Moore’s NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds improved significantly as well after finding out he will be a member of the high-powered Chiefs offense. Moore’s odds went from +3000 to +1000. Fellow wide receiver Christian Watson saw the most dramatic movement, though. Watson’s OROY odds went from +5000 all the way to +950 after hearing his name called by the Green Bay Packers, where he may slot in as Aaron Rodgers’ number one option.
  • [April 28] Kenny Pickett has broken away as the favorite to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year after the quarterback was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 20th-overall pick. Pickett was the first QB to come off the board and the only one taken in the first round. His odds improved from +500 to +450. Malik Willis, who is still waiting to find out which team he’ll be playing for, has seen his odds fade from +500 to +750. Drake London, who was taken by the Falcons with the eighth-overall pick, was the first wide receiver selected in the draft, and has seen his NFL OROY odds go from +1000 to +600. No wide receiver was taken by the Packers or Chiefs in the first round, which was the move that could have really blown up these OROY odds. Treylon Burks did see some improvement, though, going from +1000 to +750 odds after he was drafted by the Titans to fill the void left by AJ Browns’ departure.
  • [April 12] We are still more than two weeks from the 2022 NFL Draft, but NFL OROY odds have opened. The top two quarterbacks in the draft, Malik Willis and Kenny Pickett, have opened as the co-favorites to win Offensive Rookie of the Year with +500 odds each. Running back Breece Hall is third on the board with +800 odds.

2021 NFL OROY Odds

I tracked the 2021 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds from the time they opened and all throughout the 2021-2022 NFL season, right up to when the award was handed out to Ja’Marr Chase. Trevor Lawrence, the first pick from the 2021 NFL Draft, opened as the favorite to win the award, though. Look back to the 2021 NFL OROY odds to see when sportsbooks started souring on Lawrence and favoring Chase.

Sports Betting Dime

The race for the 2021-22 NFL OROY award was very back-and-forth all season, but ultimately boiled down to two players: Ja’Marr Chase and Mac Jones. Chase’s hot finish saw him become the odds-on favorite to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, but we did not see odds since the week of January 4, which was prior to Week 17.

The award was handed out at the NFL Honors on Thursday, February 10. Ja’Marr Chase was named the 2021-22 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Closing Odds to Win 2021 NFL OROY

Player Pos Team Odds to win 2021 NFL OROY
Ja’Marr Chase WR CIN -250
Mac Jones QB NE +190

*Odds as of January 4

Here are some more notes on odds movement:

  • [February 10] Ja’Marr Chase has been named the 2021-22 NFL OROY at the NFL Honors. The Bengals wide receiver edges out Mac Jones for the award.
  • [January 3] After exploding for 266 receiving yards and three touchdowns in Week 17 against the Chiefs, Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase has overtaken Mac Jones as the favorite in NFL OROY odds. Chase’s odds went from +300 to -225, while Jones’ moved from -400 to +175.
  • [December 27] Mac Jones remains the heavy odds-on favorite to win NFL OROY, though his odds faded a little from -700 to -500 after Week 16. Jones’ Patriots lost to the Bills and gave away the AFC East division lead. Ja’Marr Chase’s NFL OROY odds improved slightly, from +400 to +350 after going for 125 yards against the Ravens.
  • [December 20] Though Mac Jones lost to the Colts in Week 15, he had a pretty good second half against a solid defense, and nearly brought the Pats back to win. His NFL OROY odds improved from -500 to -700, but this likely has more to do with Ja’Marr Chase only catching one pass for three yards in Week 15.
  • [December 13] Trevor Lawrence, the first-overall pick from the 2021 NFL Draft and player who opened as the heavy favorite to win NFL OROY, is no longer being given odds to win the award. Entering Week 14, he was a distant 150-1 to win the award, but four more interceptions against the Titans has his name completely off the board. Mac Jones remains the heavy odds-on favorite to win NFL OROY.
  • [December 7] Despite only throwing three passes in Week 13, Mac Jones’ NFL OROY odds have improved from -300 to -500. This move actually happened even before Jones played though, signaling that it was more about the other rookies not performing vs Jones doing anything significant.
  • [November 29] Mac Jones has now led the Patriots to six straight wins, throwing for 310 yards and two touchdowns in their most recent win over the Titans. Jones’ NFL OROY odds have gone from -105 to -300 after his strong Week 12 performance. Although he has cooled off from his scorching start, Ja’Marr Chase, who posted three catches for 39 yards on Sunday, is still listed at +225 odds. It’s a big gap tp the next player on the board, Jaylen Waddle, who is listed at +3500.
  • [November 22] Though he isn’t really blowing up the stat sheet, Mac Jones is now the odds-on favorite to win NFL OROY. His New England Patriots now sit atop the AFC East after a convincing win over the Falcons in Week 11. Ja’Marr Chase did haul in a touchdown against the Raiders, but he only recorded three receptions for 32 yards.
  • [November 15] Mac Jones (+125) closed the gap significantly on Ja’Marr Chase (+110), whose Bengals had a bye. Jones threw for 198 yards, three TDs, and no picks in a 45-7 demolition of the Browns.
  • [November 1] For the first time this season, we have an odds-on favorite to win the NFL OROY award. Ja’Marr Chase caught another touchdown in Week 8, and his NFL OROY odds are now as short as -140. Mac Jones and Najee Harris are the only other players with odds better than 30-1.
  • [October 25] Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase not only continued his strong rookie season, but actually put forth his best performance yet in Week 7. Chase posted eight receptions for 201 yards and a touchdown against a good Ravens secondary. The fifth-overall pick from the 2021 NFL Draft is now seeing his NFL OROY odds nearing even money.
  • [October 11] After another big game in Week 5, which included 159 yards and a touchdown, Ja’Marr Chase is back to being the favorite to win NFL OROY. Trey Lance’s NFL OROY odds faded a little bit after a rather uninspiring first start.
  • [October 4] Most sportsbooks have Mac Jones back as their favorite to win NFL OROY. The Patriots’ rookie signal-caller nearly spoiled Tom Brady’s return to Foxborough in Week 4, keeping up with Brady every step of the way. Trey Lance’s odds have also improved, but just slightly, after he took over for an injured Jimmy Garoppolo in Week 4. Lance is scheduled to start Week 5 and potentially beyond.
  • [September 27] Justin Fields’ NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds took a hit after he struggled mightily in his first career start. Fellow quarterbacks Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, and Mac Jones also stumbled in Week 3, opening the door for Ja’Marr Chase, who has four touchdowns through the first three weeks, to become the new favorite to win NFL OROY at some sportsbooks.
  • [September 20] Zach Wilson’s NFL OROY odds took a big hit after he threw four interceptions against the Patriots in Week 2. San Francisco running back Elijah Mitchell is now on the board as a top ten contender after seeing the bulk of carries for a second straight week.
  • [September 14] After Trevor Lawrence threw three interceptions in Week 1 as his Jaguars were upset by the lowly Texans, the first overall pick from the 2021 NFL Draft is no longer the favorite to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. For the first time this season, that title belongs to another player: Mac Jones. DeVonta Smith and Ja’Marr Chase got their NFL careers off to great starts and each saw their NFL OROY odds improve dramatically. Kyle Pitts’ debut was much quieter, though, and his odds have gone from an average of +1050 to +1600.
  • [August 31] Mac Jones’ odds to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year have improved from an average of +1000 to as short as +500 after the Patriots cut Cam Newton, putting Jones in the starting role. Jones, Zach Wilson, and Trevor Lawrence are the only three rookie quarterbacks expected to start in Week 1.
  • [August 16] Najee Harris’ NFL OROY odds have improved from an average of +1013 to +833 after Pittsburgh’s first two preseason games clearly showed they’re eager to get their first-round RB the ball. Elijah Moore is another name making headlines in training camp, and he’s seen his odds move from +4625 to +3333 after catching eyes at Jets’ camp. Fellow Jets rookie Michael Carter is also making a move up the board, going from +5600 to +3667. On the other hand, Ja’Marr Chase has seen his Offensive Rookie of the Year odds slip from +1350 to +1567 with the Bengals offense not getting off to a great start in camp.
  • [June 14] Kyle Pitts’ NFL OROY odds have improved from an average of +1125 to +975, thanks to the Falcons shipping Julio Jones to the Titans. As a result, Pitts will be a top-two option in Atlanta for Matt Ryan. Najee Harris has also seen his odds improve, and is now as short as +500. You can still find the Steelers running back as long as +1400, though.
  • [May 3] With Bill Belichick announcing that it’s still Cam Newton’s team in New England, Mac Jones’ NFL OROY odds continue to fade, landing at +1075. On the other hand, Trey Sermon and Michael Carter both saw their odds improve thanks to being drafted into great opportunities. Sermon benefits from being drafted by Kyle Shanahan’s 49ers, where every running back has success. Carter enters a Jets backfield that looks like a wide open contest for the starting role.
  • [April 30] With the 49ers taking Trey Lance third-overall, the quarterback saw his NFL OROY odds improve from +1100 to +663, the third-best odds among all rookies. Jaylen Waddle also saw his Offensive Rookie of the Year odds improve after being selected sixth-overall by the Miami Dolphins. Waddle went from +2000 to +1575, the ninth-best odds on the board. Mac Jones had the fourth-best odds at +750 entering NFL Draft night, but fell to +913 odds when his name wasn’t called by San Francisco, but New England at 15. Travis Etienne was another player whose NFL OROY odds were harmed by the team he went to, as the Clemson RB is going to be in a crowded backfield with James Robinson and Carlos Hyde in Jacksonville. Etienne went from +1700 to as long as +2500 at DraftKings.
  • [April 21] Trevor Lawrence, who is projected to be taken first overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2021 NFL Draft, has opened as the clear favorite to win the 2021 NFL OROY award. Justin Fields, who is battling with Mac Jones to be taken third overall by the 49ers, has the second-best odds. Kyle Pitts, a tight end from Florida, has the best odds among non-quarterbacks.

2020 NFL OROY Odds

I tracked the 2020 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds from the time they opened, through the 2020-2021 NFL season, and right up to the point they handed out the award to Justin Herbert at the NFL Honors. Look back at the 2020 NFL OROY odds to see when sportsbooks started to believe in Herbert winning the award.

Sports Betting Dime
  • [February 6, 2021] To the surprise of no one who had been following the odds, Just Herbert has been named the 2020 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year at the NFL Honors
  • [December 29] Herbert has now led the Chargers to three straight wins, and sees his NFL OROY odds improve to a season-best -1600

  • [December 15] Only three players remain on the board: Justin Herbert, Justin Jefferson, and Tua Tagovailoa. The Chargers’ quarterback tightened his grip on the award after beating the Falcons in Week 14. Herbert’s odds improved from -500 to -825
  • [December 9] Justin Herbert struggled mightily against the Patriots in Week 13, posting a 43.7 passer rating, by far the worst of his career. Herbert’s stranglehold on the NFL OROY loosened as a result, with his odds fading from -1067 to -500. Justin Jefferson’s odds continued to improve, however, going from +1000 to +475
  • [December 3] For the first time this season, Justin Jefferson has the second-best odds to win NFL OROY, though his +1000 odds are a ways away from Justin Herbert who is given -1067 odds after Week 12
  • [November 24] Joe Burrow had been neck-and-neck with Justin Herbert in the NFL OROY odds, but has now been removed from the board after suffering a season-ending injury in Week 11; Herbert’s odds have improved from +117 to -825, and Justin Jefferson has the second-best odds after Tua Tagovailoa was benched against the Broncos
  • [November 17] With both Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow struggling in Week 10, Tua Tagovailoa’s NFL OROY odds have improved from +800 to +383, significantly closing the gap between him and the top two
  • [November 10] Justin Herbert just fell short against the Raiders in Week 9, but another solid performance has him back as the odds-on favorite to win NFL OROY; a great game from Tua Tagovailoa has resulted in his odds improving from +1750 to +800
  • [November 3] Joe Burrow’s win over the Titans in Week 8 has caused a split in the sportsbooks as to who the favorite should be. Herbert remains the favorite based on average odds, but he’s no longer an odds-on favorite.
  • [October 27] After getting the first win of his career in Week 7, Justin Herbert’s NFL OROY odds have reached a new best of -168
  • [October 20] In spite of a great performance in Week 6, Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s NFL OROY odds faded due to the Chiefs signing Le’Veon Bell; Tua Tagovailoa saw his odds improve after being named Miami’s starter in Week 8 (after their bye), and two wide receivers, Justin Jefferson and CHase Claypool, have cracked the top five contenders
  • [October 14] Another strong performance that nearly led to Justin Herbert leading the Chargers to victory over the Saints has resulted in LA’s QB becoming the new favorite to win NFL OROY
  • [October 6] A second consecutive 100-yard game for Justin Jefferson has seen his odds improve from +7125 to +1500 in a matter of two weeks; the Vikings WR now has the sixth-best odds to win NFL OROY
  • [September 29] James Robinson now has the third-best NFL OROY odds after another great game in Week 3; Justin Jefferson’s odds improved from +7125 to +4050 after his huge performance that consisted of 175 receiving yards and a touchdown
  • [September 22] Joe Burrow is back to being favored after a Week 2 performance that saw him throw for 316 yards and three touchdowns; Justin Herbert’s odds improved from +2900 to +1438 after his surprise start; and Jaguars undrafted rookie RB James Robinson received odds for the first time, opening among the top five contenders
  • [September 15] For the first time this season, Joe Burrow is not favored to win NFL OROY; following a strong Week 1 performance, Clyde Edwards-Helaire is now the favorite
  • [September 9] After Washington released Adrian Peterson, Antonio Gibson’s NFL OROY odds improved from +11250 to +2525, putting him among the top 20 contenders; he’s listed as short as +1200 at one sportsbook
  • [July 30] With Damien Williams opting out of the 2020 NFL season, Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s NFL OROY odds have shortened from an average of +463 to +365
  • [June 12] Rams RB Cam Akers, who looks to take over for Todd Gurley, is now a top five Offensive Rookie of the Year contender after his odds shortened from +1950 to +1450; Ke’Shawn Vaughn, whose odds opened at +10000, has cracked the top ten contenders now that Tampa Bay has revealed they foresee a big role for the rookie RB in their offense
  • [April 27] Clyde Edwards-Helaire was the big winner of the NFL Draft, as he was selected 32nd overall by the Kansas City Chiefs, resulting in his odds shortening from from +1900 to +669 (the second-best odds); Zack Moss (Bills), Denzel Mims (Jets), and KJ Hamler (Broncos) all saw their odds plummet after the draft
  • [March 27] Even though we are still a month away from the 2020 NFL Draft, Joe Burrow, the likely no. 1 pick, has opened as the heavy favorite to win 2020 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year

  • [October 30] For the first time this year, a quarterback is not favored to win OROY, as Josh Jacobs has surpassed Kyler Murray
  • [October 22] Coming off back-to-back performances of 120+ rushing yards, Josh Jacobs has the second-best odds to win OROY

  • [September 17] Daniel Jones is now a top three contender for OROY after being named the Giants’ Week 3 starter
  • [September 11] After a huge Week 1 performance, Marquise Brown has launched himself into the top three contenders for OROY

  • [August 16] Due to all the hype of a heavy workload, David Montgomery’s average odds have shortened from +1935 to +1134 over the last month
  • [April 29] Kyler Murray has opened as the heavy favorite to win 2019 NFL OROY; no other player has odds shorter than 7-1

Three tight ends opened with odds to win the award, and TJ Hockenson and Noah Fant – both selected in the first round – were listed at +1200 and +2000, respectively. Those were very short odds considering no TE has ever won the award. All three fizzled out pretty quickly.

Josh Jacobs was the only RB selected in the first round and was the only rookie running back who entered the season with a clear lead role in his respective offense. David Montgomery, Miles Sanders, and Devin Singletary emerged as contenders, as well.

Kyler Murray started the entire 2019 season for the Arizona Cardinals, as was expected, which explains why his odds were so short all year. But with Daniel Jones getting the nod for the Giants in Week 3, the sixth-overall pick vaulted up the board and looked like a real contender.

2018 NFL OROY Odds

The 2018 NFL Draft was one of the most highly-anticipated drafts in recent memory, and it certainly lived up to the hype.

The first and second overall picks, Baker Mayfield and Saquon Barkley, were really the only two players legitimately in the running for this award for the vast majority of the season.

Phillip Lindsay and Calvin Ridley each saw some short odds at some point during the season, but it only lasted for about one week each.

  • (12/26/18) Mayfield has overtaken Barkley as the OROY favorite entering Week 17
  • (12/19/18) A win in Denver over the Broncos in Week 15 has lifted Mayfield’s odds; but he still trails Barkley by a wide margin

Saquon Barkley winning the award in 2018 marked the first time RBs have won OROY in consecutive years since 2001-2002.

Also, the last two times we have seen five QBs selected in the first round of the Draft, an RB has gone on to win Offensive Rookie of the Year – Edgerrin James won it in 1999 when Tim Couch, Donovan McNabb, Akili Smith, Daunte Culpepper, and Cade McNown were all selected in the first round.
