The NBA Eastern Conference looks a whole lot different this morning. Giannis Antetokounmpo is a member of the Miami Heat, and sportsbooks wasted no time adjusting the Heat NBA championship odds for next season.

Milwaukee sent Giannis and Bobby Portis to Miami for Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis and a haul of draft picks. The deal landed late Monday, right on the eve of the draft, and the betting market reacted fast.

Here are the updated 2027 NBA Championship odds at DraftKings, followed by a breakdown of how the Heat championship odds shifted at the sportsbook and over on Kalshi’s prediction market.

The Heat sit fifth in the 2027 NBA Championship odds at +1800, trailing only the Spurs, Thunder, Celtics and reigning-champion Knicks. That +1800 number translates to roughly a 5.3% implied probability of cutting down the nets next June.

The Bucks, meanwhile, tumbled all the way down to +25000 after dealing away their franchise player.

Heat Odds Cut in Half After Giannis Deal

Before the trade, Miami was a forgotten name at +4000 on the DraftKings board. Adding a two-time MVP changes everything, and the Heat odds got slashed to +1800 almost immediately.

That move vaulted Miami past Detroit, Denver, Indiana and a whole pack of teams that were sitting ahead of them 24 hours earlier. The Heat are now the clear fifth choice on the board and the second-shortest price in the East behind the Celtics and Knicks, who are tied at +650.

The logic is simple. Giannis pairs with Bam Adebayo to form one of the nastiest frontcourts in basketball, and Erik Spoelstra has shown he can squeeze the most out of a roster. When healthy last season, Giannis put up 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists on 62% shooting.

Kalshi Market Shows the Same Jump

The prediction markets backed up what the sportsbooks did. On Kalshi’s 2027 NBA Champion market, Miami’s price climbed from 3 cents to 8 cents on the news, the biggest upward move of any team.

That 8% chance puts the Heat fifth on Kalshi too, right behind Oklahoma City (26%), San Antonio (23%), Boston (15%) and New York (13%). The Spurs were the day’s biggest faller, dropping four points to 23% as money flowed elsewhere.

It’s worth noting the two-way action here. As Miami surged, the Knicks quietly slipped two points to 13%, a reminder that no team has repeated as champs since the Warriors back in 2017 and 2018.

Is There Value Left on the Heat?

The number already moved, so the easy value is gone. Anyone who grabbed Miami at +4000 or 3 cents before the deal closed is sitting pretty.

From here, the bet comes down to health. Giannis has played fewer than 70 games in six of the last seven seasons, and he’s now 31. Miami’s depth also took a hit after shipping out four rotation players, so the bench will need work before camp.

If you believe the Giannis-Bam core stays on the floor in May, +1800 on a team with this much top-end talent is a fair price to circle. The East runs through Boston, New York and now Miami, and that path is a lot friendlier than the Spurs-Thunder gauntlet out West.
