The early Week 3 college football odds are up. FanDuel has 12 FBS games posted, and the headliner is the one people circled back in December: LSU at Ole Miss, with Lane Kiffin walking back into Vaught-Hemingway Stadium as the visiting head coach.

There’s more on the card than that. A ranked Big 12 matchup follows on Friday night, college football heads to Wembley Stadium on Saturday, and Notre Dame is laying 29.5 at home.

Week 3 College Football Odds

A few things jump off the board. Notre Dame -29.5 over Michigan State is the biggest number of the 12. The totals run from 48.5 in Kentucky at Texas A&M up to 59.5 for SMU at Louisville, which also happens to carry the shortest spread at Louisville -1.5.

One venue note before you read that Arizona State line wrong. ASU vs Kansas is the Union Jack Classic at Wembley Stadium in London, not a game on the Kansas campus. The Jayhawks are the designated home team for the first FBS game played in the United Kingdom, and they’re getting 5.5 in it. Kickoff is noon ET on FS1.

LSU vs Ole Miss Odds and Kiffin’s Return to Oxford

Lane Kiffin returns to Oxford as LSU’s head coach on Saturday, with kickoff at 7:30 pm ET on ABC. He left Ole Miss after six seasons and a 55-19 record, just before the Rebels’ first College Football Playoff appearance. Former defensive coordinator Pete Golding now runs the program.

LSU is 2-0, but the two wins looked different. The Tigers rolled Clemson 51-10, then beat Louisiana Tech 45-14 despite three Sam Leavitt interceptions and four turnovers. Their defense held the Bulldogs to 140 net yards and recorded seven sacks.

Ole Miss has scored 41 points in each game. After surviving Louisville 41-38, the Rebels handled Charlotte 41-9 behind Trinidad Chambliss’ 23-of-26 passing for 225 yards and two touchdowns. Kewan Lacy added 87 rushing yards and two scores after dealing with a thigh bruise.

The LSU vs Ole Miss line puts Kiffin’s team just below the key number of three. Leavitt’s turnovers are the concern against a Rebels offense that has already shown it can score. LSU’s defense is the reason the Tigers are favored on the road.

An August lookahead had Ole Miss favored by 2.5. FanDuel now lists LSU -2.5, a five-point swing through pick’em since the summer, rather than a move from Sunday’s opener.

Houston vs Texas Tech Odds Lead Friday’s Week 3 Slate

No. 22 Houston at No. 13 Texas Tech goes Friday at 8 pm ET, with the Red Raiders laying 10.5 and a total of 52.5.

Tech is 2-0 after a 33-10 win over Abilene Christian and a 35-24 win at Oregon State. That Corvallis trip gives you a common opponent to work with, since the Beavers hung around into the fourth quarter against Houston before losing 33-20. Two ranked Big 12 teams, and the market still made it a double-digit game.

SMU vs Louisville Is the Closest Line on the Board

Louisville -1.5 with SMU at +102 on the moneyline is about as close to a coin flip as Week 3 gets right now, with a 59.5 total.

SMU is 2-0 following a 56-10 win over UC Davis. Louisville bounced back from that 41-38 loss to Ole Miss by dropping 59 on Villanova, with Lincoln Kienholz throwing for 332 yards and accounting for four touchdowns. Both offenses are moving, which explains why the total is up where it is.
