Friday night’s college football slate features a pair of compelling games with ranked teams. #5 Miami visits Wake Forest at Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium in Winston-Salem, while #22 Houston travels to #13 Texas Tech in Lubbock.

I’m evaluating those two matchups from every angle, using the Polymarket US prices to find the best betting value. Miami’s offense has been the strongest unit in this group, while the Houston-Texas Tech matchup has a smaller margin than the opening line suggested. Below, you’ll find my favorite Friday college football picks, predictions and best bets for Sep. 18.

Miami to win by over 20.5 points
51%

Miami enters this road game as a top National Championship odds contender averaging 61 points and 702.5 yards per game through two contests. The Hurricanes have recorded 854 passing yards and 551 rushing yards, with 69 first downs. Their 64.3% third-down conversion rate is also well ahead of Wake Forest’s 46.2% mark.

The scoring production has been efficient, not just high-volume. Miami has converted eight of 10 red-zone trips, an 80% rate, and has 122 points on the season. Wake Forest has scored 72 points and gained 970 yards, or 36 points and 485 yards per game.

That gap gives Miami several paths to build a lead even with the game being played in Winston-Salem.

The consensus spread is Miami -20.5, up from -19.5 at the opener. I am taking Yes at 51¢ for a Miami win by more than 20.5 points. The pick requires the Hurricanes to maintain their early offensive efficiency for most of the game, and their production through two games makes that a reasonable expectation.

Miami vs Wake Forest: Under 56.5

Under 56.5 points (No on Over 56.5)
52%

The total pick is Under 56.5, expressed in the market as No on Over 56.5. Miami’s offense can drive this game toward the number, but Wake Forest has averaged 36 points per game through two contests. A one-sided result does not automatically produce a high total if the trailing team cannot keep pace.

Wake Forest has 970 total yards, including 581 passing yards and 389 rushing yards, but those totals are a bit misleading. They came against Akron and Purdue, two defenses that can’t hold a candle to Miami’s. Expect the Canes to silence the Demon Deacons attack, leading to this game falling short of the number. Houston vs Texas Tech: Texas Tech Spread

Friday CFB Best Bet #3: Texas Tech to win by OVER 7.5 points, Yes at 51¢ on Polymarket

Texas Tech to win by over 7.5 points
51%

Texas Tech is a 7.5-point home favorite against Houston in the college football odds, and the venue matters because this is a conference game in Lubbock. The Red Raiders have scored 68 points through two games and gained 823 yards, including 495 passing yards and 328 rushing yards. They have also converted eight of eight red-zone opportunities.

The market has moved sharply toward Houston according to the college football public betting splits, but I believe it’s gone too far. Texas Tech opened at -13.5 and now sits at -7.5, while the Red Raiders remain the consensus favorite at -326 on the moneyline. I am taking Yes at 51¢ for Texas Tech to win by more than 7.5 points.

Texas Tech has won nine straight home games and seven straight meetings with Houston. Five of those seven series wins came by at least 10 points, supporting the Red Raiders at the shorter spread.
