Coastal Carolina vs Delaware Prediction, Odds & Best Bet for Saturday CFB

Coastal Carolina visits Delaware to open Saturday’s college football schedule. Kickoff is at 11:30 a.m. ET on September 19 at Delaware Stadium, with CBS Sports Network carrying the game.

Both teams are 1-1. The Chanticleers beat Fordham 45-7 last week, while Delaware returns home after losing 35-26 at Vanderbilt, a game the Blue Hens led at halftime.

My Coastal Carolina vs Delaware prediction focuses on the quarterbacks and whether either defense can consistently prevent big plays. The picks and updated Polymarket prices follow.

I’m backing the over. Delaware showed enough offensive quality at Vanderbilt to make its scoring potential at home appealing, and Coastal has a quarterback capable of answering through the air.

Deuce Bailey has thrown for 576 yards and six touchdowns through two games. The former Missouri State quarterback is still building consistency in Ryan Beard’s offense, but the early touchdown production gives Coastal a way to stay competitive without grinding out long rushing drives.

Delaware can attack in more than one way. Jo Silver ran for 109 yards on 16 carries against Vanderbilt, while Da’Wain Lofton caught four passes for 142 yards. Those performances came against an SEC opponent, making them more useful here than simply relying on last week’s Coastal blowout.

Silver’s rushing success is important to the total. If Delaware can make Coastal respect the run, it should create opportunities for Nick Minicucci to find receivers beyond the first-down marker. The Blue Hens do not need to throw on every down to produce quick scoring drives.

Minicucci battled inconsistency last week, going just 11 for 27 with a touchdown and two interceptions. In Week 1 against FCS Merrimack, Minicucci threw for 330 yards and two touchdowns, adding an additional score on the ground.

Coastal’s response will determine how comfortably this clears. Bailey’s early touchdown numbers support the over, but stalled drives would put too much of the scoring burden on Delaware. I expect the visitors to contribute enough for the two offenses to get beyond 56 points.

Delaware is the favorite to win outright, but the spread contract offers the more competitive price. Buying Yes on Delaware to win by over 4.5 requires a Blue Hens victory by at least five points.

I also like Delaware to cover. The performance at Vanderbilt showed this offense can create problems against stronger opposition, and returning home should give it a better chance to turn those gains into a win.

Using last season as a guide, Delaware has tremendous home-road splits. In 2025, Delaware went 5-1 at home while going 1-5 on the road (and 1-0 in neutral-site games). As the home squad, Delaware scored 24 points in all six games, scoring at least 35 on three occasions – including 44 against a good UConn team and a whopping 61 against (an admittedly horrendous) UTEP side.

Coastal went 2-5 away from home last season, including a bowl loss to Louisiana Tech. Even in the Sun Belt, the Chanticleers split their road games while going 3-1 at home in such contests. Louisiana Tech, Old Dominion, and Georgia Southern all defeated Coastal by at least five points.

For the 2026 game, the matchup I’m watching is Silver against Coastal’s front. A productive running game would allow Delaware to manage the down and distance while keeping its deeper passing options available. That gives the Blue Hens a more reliable route to extending drives than relying entirely on explosive throws.

Coastal’s passing game makes a late score a real concern, especially with a spread above a field goal. Even so, Delaware’s ability to move the ball on the ground and hit Lofton downfield is enough for me to back a win by at least five. The over remains my preferred play.
