The Presidents Cup is back, this time being contested on American soil, and Team USA are heavy favorites over the Internationals. It’s being contested at famed Medinah Country Club, which is in a suburb near Chicago, Illinois, a course that hosted the 2012 Ryder Cup and two PGA Championships won by Tiger Woods. Team USA has historically dominated the biennial event and it would be shocking should a loaded USA squad not emerge victorious for the 14th time in 16 attempts.

Unlike the Ryder Cup, which is played over three days, this event boasts a four-day battle, with Thursday featuring five four-ball matches (more commonly known as best ball). Friday is foursomes (commonly known as alternate shot) with Saturday using both formats, and Sunday being singles action. In 2024, Team USA was a heavy -270 favorite entering the tournament, so the -400 price tag this time around points towards the Internationals having their work cut out for them even more.

There is a gargantuan talent discrepancy between the United States and the Internationals. Team USA has seven players in the top-ten of the World Golf Rankings, yet the Internationals have none. Combined, the United States totaled 15 wins on the PGA Tour in 2026, while the Internationals had just three victories.

All-time, the United States has absolutely dominated this event, winning 13 times, losing just once (1998), and tying once (2003).

2026 Presidents Cup Pick

It’s really hard to poke holes in the States’ game and see a way how they’ll lose over the course of four days. It would be fascinating for an actual close competition, after the last two iterations have been blowouts. However, it’s darn near impossible to think the Internationals can hang in. Eleven of the twelve USA players are in the top-30, and the only one outside of it (Jackson Koivun), burst onto the scene and won in his third career PGA Tour start as a professional to prove he’s a phenom. The Internationals have just four top-30 golfers.

The United States has much more depth than the International team along with winning pedigree. In addition, this is a home game for Team USA, so the crowd will be boisterous and loud early. There’s next to no value on them, but at -400, it’s the only play to make.

Pick: United States (-400)
