- Despite the sample size growing, sportsbooks are still not paying attention to the new usage of certain players, leading to bad lines on Week 3 player props

As we enter Week 3 of the 2026 NFL season, sportsbooks are starting to build a bit of a better sample size of each player’s new role/opportunity/ceiling/floor for the current season. While many players are producing at a very similar rate to what they have in the past, there are some players who have seen their production dramatically improve. When those players are not household names, who are posting massive stat lines, they don’t always catch the attention of sportsbooks, since they have a lot of betting lines to set every day.
I have gotten off to a hot start this season (5-1) by simply identifying the players who sportsbooks have not adjusted to yet, and are still relying on past seasons to guide their prop markets. I have found another two players for Week 3 whose player prop markets do not match their expanded role and opportunity through the first two weeks.
NFL Player Prop Picks for Week 3
Both Josh Allen and Adonai Mitchell have outperformed their Week 3 prop markets by a notable margin over the first two weeks of the 2026 NFL season. However, sportsbooks are still setting low over/unders for them this week. I am taking advantage of the opportunity by taking the over on both of these player props, and I believe these are the two best player props to bet for this slate of games.
If you wanted to increase your potential return on these picks, you can sign up at Polymarket and use their player props milestones to bet 250+ on Allen and/or 50+ on Mitchell.
You can keep reading below for the full data breakdown and analysis to see how much better these two players have performed versus these lines.
Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills – Over 239.5 Passing Yards
- 2025 Passing Yards Per Game Avg: 215.8
- 2025 L5 Games Passing Yards Per Game Avg: 167.2
- 2026 Passing Yards Per Game Avg: 291
- 2026 Avg vs Betting Line: +51.5 (+21.5%)
Josh Allen is thriving in 2026, as are his odds to win NFL MVP, thanks to Joe Brady taking over as head coach, and employing a much more aggressive offensive approach than what he was allowed to as OC under Sean McDermott.
So far, Allen is averaging 291 passing yards per game, which is 51.5 yards more than his Week 3 passing yards market, and it’s a result of the extra 2.9 pass attempts per game he is averaging versus last year, along with Brady’s system calling for him to push the ball downfield more. This is evident from his intended air yards per attempt going from 7.28 last season to 10.22 through the first two games.
The Bills’ QB has gone over 239.5 passing yards in each of his first two games this year, throwing for 334 in Week 1 and 248 in Week 2. Neither of the two defenses he played – the Texans and Lions – appear to be a whole lot worse than the Chargers defense, who he is preparing for this week. LA has allowed 265 gross passing yards per game this season. Here’s what that looked like per game:
For further context, Jacoby Brissett threw for 95 yards in Week 2 against the Seahawks, and Kirk Cousins totaled 160 passing yards in Week 1 against the Dolphins. So, it’s not like LA has just been forced to deal with prolific passing attacks through the first two weeks. The Chargers’ opponents have also both played with positive game scripts as well.
Even if Justin Herbert and the Chargers offense do not keep up with Buffalo’s offense, this line is still too low for Allen. I’m also not concerned about the Bills likely being without DJ Moore for this one. There are still plenty of receivers who will get open in Brady’s system.

Adonai Mitchell, WR, New York Jets – Over 45.5 Receiving Yards
- 2025 Receiving Yards Per Game Avg: 28.3
- 2025 L5 Games Passing Yards Per Game Avg: 29.4
- 2026 Passing Yards Per Game Avg: 61.5
- 2026 Avg vs Betting Line: +16 (+35.2%)
When Adonai Mitchell was traded to the Jets last season, he landed with a team who trusted him. Shane Steichen, head coach of the Colts, did not trust Mitchell and was not even giving him many snaps each game. While Mitchell’s opportunity improved immediately in New York, simply by being on the field, his quarterback situation was rough. But that has changed this season too, as Geno Smith is a serviceable quarterback.
The end result has been an extra 2.9 targets per game versus his average from last season, and he’s benefitting to the tune of 61.5 receiving yards per game through his first two, which is +16 yards versus his over/under for Week 3. Mitchell has been pretty consistent too, as he posted 60 yards in Week 1 and then 63 yards in Week 2.
His matchup against the Lions at Ford Field on Sunday heavily favors aerial production, and playing in a dome removes any weather variables. Through two games, Detroit has struggled immensely defending the pass, yielding 329 gross passing yards per game. These have been the top receiving yards performances from wide receivers against the Lions this season:
- Chris Olave: 182 yards
- Devaughn Vele: 69 yards
- Keon Coleman: 63 yards
- Joshua Palmer: 43 yards
- Bryce Lance: 42 yards
- Khalil Shakir: 38 yards
I appreciate the Saints and Bills have shown two of the best passing attacks in the league this season, but we don’t need Geno Smith to throw for 329 yards in order for Mitchell to go over 45.5.
