Week 3 of the NFL season is serving up a massive slate of marquee matchups. As kickoff approaches, the betting markets are already taking heavy action. A highly anticipated clash between the Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys in Brazil instantly jumps out. Another pivotal conference showdown featuring the Los Angeles Chargers and Buffalo Bills is also drawing major attention.

While the on-field matchups grab the headlines, the activity at the betting window tells its own compelling story. Several games have experienced significant shifts since the opening numbers dropped earlier in the week.

Matchups like the Tennessee Titans taking on the New York Giants and the Seattle Seahawks visiting the Washington Commanders are seeing early money pour in due to quarterback injuries. I am keeping a close eye on these shifts. The early action drastically alters how the markets project these games to play out.

Below, I am breaking down the biggest odds movements of Week 3. I will highlight the specific matchups seeing the most substantial changes to their point spreads and game totals. Make sure you shop across various NFL betting apps to grab the best numbers before kickoff.

Tracking the point spread from the moment it opens on the NFL odds board to kickoff is the most reliable way I gauge where the smart money is flowing. I always look for spots where sharp bettors are trying to gain an edge in the field position battle.

Here is a look at the opening and current spreads. Bold matchups indicate games where the spread moved by at least three points, the favorite changed, or the line crossed a key NFL betting number like 3 or 7.

Dissecting the Biggest Week 3 Spread Shifts

Several major adjustments stand out on the board. These are driven by a combination of sharp action, lopsided public backing, and critical injuries.

Titans vs Giants

The Giants opened as a -5.5 home favorite, but that line has plummeted to -2.5. This movement stems from solid backing for the Titans, who are commanding 66.6% of the bets and 60.0% of the money. New York is navigating a 12-man injury report featuring multiple key defensive schemes falling apart.

Not only will the Giants be without Jaxson Dart for this game (and the rest of the season), other Giants are also nursing injuries. Malik Nabers, Andrew Thomas, and Brian Burns left Week 2’s game at different points in the game. Bettors are not convinced Jameis Winston will be able to deliver a big Giants win.

Seahawks vs Commanders

This line climbed three points, moving from -4.5 to -7.5. The Commanders are incredibly banged up with 16 players on the injury report. Starting quarterback Jayden Daniels missed practice with an elbow injury and is likely to miss at least a month. Bettors are heavily fading Washington, putting 88.5% of the tickets and 94.4% of the money on Seattle.

On the Seattle front, Sam Darnold could return. In his absence, Drew Lock has played competent football leading the Seahawks to a pair of wins. Either way, the Seahawks are deserving of a big number, even on the road.

Ravens vs Cowboys

If you want a textbook sharp money indicator, this is it. Dallas is currently taking 53.4% of the tickets. However, an entirely different story unfolds with the handle, as 72.1% of the total stake is on Baltimore. This overwhelming financial backing from sharp bettors forced bookmakers to push the line through the key number of 3.

This marks the 32nd consecutive Lamar Jackson start the Ravens are favored in. Baltimore has a 19-12 record straight-up in these games.

Chargers vs Bills

This AFC clash saw the spread move from -6.5 to -7. Crossing the key number of a touchdown is significant. This swing is the result of major injury concerns for the Chargers, who have 14 players on their report. The public is piling on the healthy home team, with Buffalo drawing 77.1% of the spread tickets.

After the Chargers’ 0-2 start and the Bills’ 2-0 start, this number has risen from an offseason line of 4.5. The Chargers lost their opening two games at home as touchdown favorites. The Bills have covered both of their games thus far.

NFL Week 3 Totals: Biggest Over/Under Line Movement and Betting Insights

While point spreads usually command the most attention, game totals are often where I hunt for value. By kickoff, these numbers shift dramatically as sportsbooks account for late injury designations, shifting weather, and lopsided betting pools.

Below is a look at the opening and current consensus totals for every Week 3 matchup. The games highlighted in bold feature totals that moved by at least three full points since opening.

Dissecting the Week 3 Over/Under Adjustments

When a total sees significant movement, it is rarely by accident. Tracking NFL public betting percentages helps identify the sharp action behind these volatile numbers.

Titans vs Giants

This total took a massive nose dive, crashing from 43.5 down to 38.5. The primary driver is the health of the passing attack in New York without Dart.

The betting splits confirm a sharp lean toward a low-scoring affair. The Under is pulling 43.49% of the betting slips but accounts for 49.14% of the money. With 21 combined players on the injury report, points will clearly be at a premium.

Ravens vs Cowboys

Even with a smaller movement from 51.5 to 52.5, this high-profile clash reveals fascinating reverse line movement. Sharps are hammering the Under, drawing an overwhelming 87.0% of the total bets and 81.84% of the money.

However, books aggressively raised the total. This indicates massive respect for the sharp money hitting the Over. The sportsbooks expect an air raid offense shootout, knowing both teams excel in red zone efficiency.

Both teams have tremendous offenses and defenses with question marks, but one storyline to monitor is the field itself in Rio. Cruddy field conditions could artificially lower scoring as teams play more conservatively to avoid critical mistakes.

Seahawks vs Commanders

This total dipped from 41.5 down to 40.5. Injuries are the undeniable catalyst for this drop. There are a staggering 26 players on the combined injury report for this game.

While the Over is getting 59.5% of the tickets, the Under is generating 44.2% of the money. Sharp money anticipates poor third-down conversions and a messy turnover differential as the Commanders turn to Marcus Mariota.
