The Atlanta Dream travel to Washington tonight to face the Mystics in Game 2 of their WNBA playoff series. Atlanta enters play fresh off a dominant 92-77 victory in Game 1, and can punch their ticket to the league semifinals with a win in this contest. Prediction markets like their chances, pegging the Dream as 4.5-point favorites, in a game with a 166.5 point total.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:10 pm ET from the CareFirst Arena in Washington, DC, with ESPN providing the broadcast coverage. Keep reading for my favorite Dream vs Mystics predictions and picks, along with the latest odds for Game 2, below.

As of Wednesday afternoon, you can get the equivalent of +127 odds on Atlanta to cover the spread. Given that I expect the Dream to win, that price is tempting, but Washington’s elite cover metrics as a home underdog give me pause. As a result, I’m more tempted to simply eat the juice and bet Atlanta’s moneyline. As always, before making any wager, scan the best prediction market apps to find the most favorable odds.

The biggest reason I’m rolling with the Dream tonight is the disparity in offensive efficiency between these two teams. The Dream roll into to DC with the WNBA’s fourth best offensive rating, averaging 91.3 points per game, and making 47% of their attempts. Washington meanwhile, ranks 12th in both offensive rating and points per game, averaging over 7 points fewer per contest than Atlanta.

To make matters worse, the Mystics splash the second fewest threes in the league, and commit the most turnovers. That kind of sloppy play was on full display in Game 1, as Washington coughed up the ball 22 times, leading to 27 points for the Dream.

The Mystics compensate for their abysmal offense with strong play in their own end, but they had no answers for Atlanta in the series opener. The Dream got 26 points from Rhyne Howard, plus another 22 from Allisha Gray, and while they still put up 92 points in total they left a lot of meat on the bone. 00

Star forward Angel Reese dominated the glass, pulling down 12 rebounds, but uncharacteristically struggled from the floor. She buried just 4-of-15 attempts, missing a bunch of easy looks. I’m expecting her shooting to regress back to her 45% season average, which spells bad news for Washington.

At the other end, Atlanta’s defense is probably what will ultimately prevent them from being a serious contender in the WNBA Championship odds, but they do limit opponent assists at an elite rate. The Dream rank third in assists allowed per game, which tells us they force opponents to create their own shot. The Mystics lack the talent to do that on a consistent basis, and starting point guard Georgia Amoore has dished out only 4 total assists in four games this season against Atlanta.

Ultimately, I don’t think Washington can generate enough offense to extend this series, but 4.5 points is a big number for the Dream to cover. The Mystics were 9-2 as home underdogs against the spread in the regular season, lending more credence to me backing Atlanta simply pick up the W and get out of town.

Moving over the player props market, where I’m putting my money where my mouth is when it comes to Reese. I’ll gladly take her to splash 15+ points, a number she’s hit in nine of the last 11 games where she’s played at least 18 minutes.

Reese has a major edge on the offensive glass, and I’m banking on her converting some of those easy put backs and second chance opportunities she failed to make in Game 1. The former LSU star is the team’s second most efficient shooter, and no Atlanta player gets to the line more frequently.
