  • My NHL player props cover Tuesday’s nine-game slate
  • Three shots-on-goal bets and an anytime goalscorer make the card
  • Keep reading to see shooting trends, opponent stats and prices behind each pick

My NHL player props today focus on shot volume and a goalscorer matchup across Tuesday’s nine-game slate. Recent shooting trends help narrow the field, alongside what each opponent has allowed.

Elite talent is taking the ice across the league. Auston Matthews and the Toronto Maple Leafs defend home ice, while Kirill Kaprizov leads the Minnesota Wild into Buffalo. I am looking for opportunities beyond the biggest names, too.

Whether backing heavy-hitting snipers or elite playmakers on the power play, these NHL player props are my favorite angles for October 6. The table below lists all four picks before the matchup analysis.

Best NHL Prop Bets Tonight

Dylan Holloway Shots on Goal Pick

  • Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-125 at BetMGM)

My Dylan Holloway shots-on-goal pick leans on his road shooting history. The St. Louis Blues forward has exceeded 2.5 shots in 8 of his last 9 road games against opponents with a losing record, a trend that spans more than this young season.

He is averaging an impressive 3.78 shots per game in those exact spots. Tonight, he gets a premier matchup against a Chicago Blackhawks defense allowing plenty of shots early in the season.

Through three games, the Blackhawks are bleeding 32.0 shots and 4.67 goals against per game, backed by a dismal .845 team save percentage. That combination gives Holloway a favorable matchup to keep firing on net.

Pavel Dorofeyev Shots on Goal Pick

My Pavel Dorofeyev shots pick follows a productive run entering this Rangers–Islanders matchup. The talented winger has eclipsed the 2.5-shot mark in 5 of his last 6 games overall, generating a heavy 4.0 shots per game average in that span while seeing quality ice time.

He also boasts strong historical success in this gritty New York rivalry. Dorofeyev has cleared this line in 3 of his last 4 matchups against the New York Islanders, averaging 3.5 shots in those games.

The Islanders’ defensive structure is currently surrendering 31.5 shots against per game through two games this season. With Dorofeyev also cashing this prop in 3 of his last 4 home games, I expect him to get his chances at Madison Square Garden.

Sam Bennett Shots on Goal Pick

  • Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+100 at Bet365)

My Sam Bennett shots-on-goal pick builds on his bounce-back track record. The rugged Florida Panthers forward has exceeded 2.5 shots in 9 of his last 10 road games following a loss, averaging a steady 3.3 shots per game in those critical redemption spots.

Furthermore, he has hit this over in 6 of his last 7 games against opponents holding a losing record. Tonight, he faces a Los Angeles Kings defensive unit that has struggled through its first two games.

The Kings are yielding 27.0 shots per game, but more concerningly, they are allowing a staggering 6.5 goals against per game. Combine that with an abysmal 28.6% penalty kill, and there is an opening for Florida’s attack. Bennett has also cleared this line in four of his last five games against Los Angeles, averaging 4.2 shots in that span.

Anton Lundell Anytime Goalscorer Pick

  • Anton Lundell Anytime Goalscorer (+375 at Bet365)

I’m targeting Anton Lundell as my NHL anytime goalscorer pick against the Los Angeles Kings. The projection has Lundell at 0.4 goals in this matchup, compared with his current-season average of zero. He has yet to score, so this is a bet on the matchup rather than an existing scoring streak.

Lundell is also projected for 2.6 shots, slightly above his 2.3 season average. The scoring projection includes 0.3 even-strength goals and 0.1 power-play goals, giving him more than one route to the scoresheet. These are projections, not his actual results.

Los Angeles has allowed 6.5 goals per game with a .759 save percentage through two games. That short sample creates a favorable matchup for Florida’s forwards. At +440, Lundell is my longer-priced goalscorer play, with regulation and overtime included.
