  • There is plenty of value to be found when looking past the household names in NFL player props markets
  • There are two players seeing increased opportunity entering Week 5, but sportsbooks have not caught up yet
  • See the two best player props to bet for Week 5 that others are not talking about

The majority of the public handle when it comes to NFL player props flows towards star players. This means oddsmakers scrutinize the lines set for those players much more. The public does not often flock to the lesser-known players, especially when they’re on unexciting teams, or props with low lines. You can’t blame them either, as they don’t have that much time to dedicate to research.

Thankfully, I do! I spent the week scouring the player props others, including sportsbooks, aren’t paying much attention to, and I found two players who are seeing increased opportunity recently, and are in a great spot to outperform their respective props.

Week 5 NFL Player Prop Picks

PlayerPick
D’Andre Swift (CHI)Over 14.5 Receiving Yards
Geno Smith (NYJ)Over 206.5 Passing Yards

While D’Andre Swift and Geno Smith are players that most football fans know, the former is overlooked when it comes to his receiving contributions and the latter is on a team most have learned to overlook recently. But that provides us with value on both players entering Week 5, and they make up my two favorite slept on player props to bet for Sunday.

You can also look for a more favorable price at prediction markets, where you’re purchasing contracts as opposed to traditional sports betting. Kalshi is offering all these player prop markets, and you can sign up using our promo code now.

Keep reading to see the data behind why Swift and Smith are good bets this week.

D’Andre Swift Over 14.5 Receiving Yards

  • Receiving Yards Over/Under: 14.5
  • Avg Receiving Yards L3: 24.7

D’Andre Swift is my favorite overlooked NFL player prop of Week 5. Not only is Swift averaging 3 receptions and 24.7 receiving yards per game over his last three, but it sounds like backfield mate Kyle Monangai might not be available for their Week 5 tilt with the Packers.

He has already gone over 14.5 receiving yards in two of those three games, with the lone miss being a game they played with a large lead over the Eagles. In the three-game window, he has seen at least two targets in each game, and has totaled 11. With some extra snaps likely coming his way, and facing a desperate Packers offense, who has shown flashes of being able to put points on the board, I like the opportunities to continue for Swift.

Some sportsbooks have pulled Swift from the board while they wait on injury news, while others have raised his over/under to 17.5.

Geno Smith Over 206.5 Passing Yards

  • Passing Yards Over/Under: 206.5
  • Avg Passing Yards L3: 229

Geno Smith to throw for more than 206.5 yards against the Browns in Week 5 is a great bet! Smith is averaging 31 pass attempts per game over his last three, and the only reason it’s not a lot higher is because the Jets only possessed the ball for 17 minutes and 15 seconds against the Bears last week – he only attempted 15 passes as a result. The Jets went 0-7 on third down and could not slow the Bears’ run game. I do not believe Cleveland’s defense, who ranks out as a below-average unit, can skunk the Jets offense on third down, nor do I believe they have the ground game to completely dominate time of possession.

Smith attempted 37 and 41 passes in the previous two games, respectively. He’s averaging 229 passing yards per game in the three-game span, and will likely have to shoulder a heavier load in Week 5 with Breece Hall expected to miss at least one more game.

While the Browns offense is far from a great unit, they have scored 21+ points in each of their last three, and I like them to push the Jets offense enough to get what’s needed from Smith through the air.
