The Oct. 9 NHL schedule has four matchups:

  • New York Rangers at Washington Capitals
  • Seattle Kraken at Detroit Red Wings
  • Pittsburgh Penguins at Columbus Blue Jackets
  • Anaheim Ducks at Winnipeg Jets

The early team numbers present different matchup environments. The Rangers have allowed 1.40 goals per game through five games, while Washington has allowed 2.33 through three. Seattle has allowed 2.50 goals per game over four games, and Detroit has allowed 2.33 over three.

The other two games also offer useful context for NHL player props: Pittsburgh has allowed 3.25 goals per game through four, Columbus 3.50 through two, Anaheim 3.33 through three, and Winnipeg 2.50 through four. I’m using those figures alongside each target’s production to find my NHL player prop picks below.

Kyle Connor Anytime Goalscorer vs. Anaheim Ducks

  • Pick: Kyle Connor anytime goalscorer (+120 at BetMGM)

Connor has five goals through four games in the 2026 season, including three power-play goals. His 24 shots also lead the early league leaderboard, giving this NHL player props pick both scoring production and a documented shot total.

Anaheim has played three games and allowed 3.33 goals and 26.67 shots per game. Connor’s scoring and shot volume can be evaluated against those Ducks team numbers, although the data does not determine whether he scores in this game.

My Connor anytime-goalscorer pick is based on that combination of finishing and shot volume. Four games is a small sample, but +115 offers a plus-money return on the scoring role and shot volume behind my pick.

Leo Carlsson Over 0.5 Assists vs. Winnipeg Jets

  • Pick: Leo Carlsson Over 0.5 assists (+125 at Bet365)

Carlsson has six assists and seven points through three 2026 games. Six assists place him among the early league leaders, making his passing production the primary statistical basis for this NHL player props pick.

Winnipeg has played four games and allowed 2.50 goals and 32.75 shots per game. The shots-against figure supplies matchup context for Anaheim’s offensive opportunities, while Carlsson’s assist total identifies the specific production being evaluated.

My Carlsson assist pick offers a way to back Anaheim’s offense without needing the Ducks to win. Winnipeg’s goals-against average remains the counterargument, but the +120 return makes this my preferred assist pick.

Thomas Novak Over 0.5 Points vs. Columbus Blue Jackets

Novak has five points through four games, with three goals and two assists. Those totals provide the player-side basis for this NHL player props point market and show that his early production has included both goals and assists.

Columbus has played two games and allowed 3.50 goals per game. Its penalty kill is operating at 66.7%. Those are team-level matchup figures, while Novak’s three goals and two assists describe his production; neither set of numbers determines how his points will be distributed in this game.

My Novak point pick can cash through a goal or an assist. That gives me a broader route than asking him to score, with a +120 return if he records at least one point.
