The Philadelphia Flyers (0-5-3) visit the Detroit Red Wings (1-3-2) Thursday night at Little Caesars Arena. Both teams have struggled to start the season, but the Flyers have been significantly worse, managing just 10 goals in eight games. Detroit has at least shown some offensive life with 31.8 shots per game.

Puck drop is at 7:30 pm ET. Here are my Flyers vs Red Wings prediction, player props and best bets.

My Flyers vs Red Wings prediction is on Detroit at home. The shot volume gap between these two teams is enormous. Detroit is generating 31.8 shots per game while allowing 27.3. Philadelphia is on the other end, managing just 20.8 shots per game while giving up 34.6.

The Flyers are winless through eight games (0-5-3) and have scored 10 goals total (1.25 per game). Detroit has its own issues at 1-3-2 with 14 goals for and 19 against, but the Red Wings are at least creating chances consistently. At 56 cents on prediction market apps, Detroit is a slight favorite and the better team on paper.

The Flyers vs Red Wings player prop I’m targeting is DeBrincat on shots. He has 24 shots through six games (4.0 per game) with four goals and four assists. His last two games have been particularly aggressive: seven shots against Montreal and six against New Jersey, totaling 13 in two contests. He had two goals and an assist in the most recent game.

Philadelphia alfor a total of6 shots per game, giving DeBrincat a favorable matchup for shot volume. At -105 on BetMGM, this is near pick’em juice on a number he’s been clearing regularly. Tippett (20 shots in 8 games) offers a plus-money alternative on the Philly side, but Detroit limits opponents to 27.3 shots per game, making DeBrincat the stronger play.

Flyers vs Red Wings Best Bets

  • Under 5.5 Goals (+100 at BetMGM)

My Flyers vs Red Wings best bet on the total is the under at even money. Philadelphia has scored two or fewer goals in all eight games and is converting just 8.3% on the power play. Detroit is averaging 2.33 goals per game. Neither team is generating the kind of offensive output that pushes games over 5.5 consistently.

Detroit’s penalty kill at 66.7% is a concern, but Philadelphia’s power play has been so poor (8.3%) that the PK weakness may not matter much in this specific matchup. At +100, even money on the under is a fair price for two teams combining for 3.58 goals per game.

The Flyers vs Red Wings team stats show Detroit with a significant edge in shot generation (31.8 vs 20.8 per game) and scoring (2.33 vs 1.25 GPG). Detroit’s power play at 20.0% is far more productive than Philadelphia’s 8.3%. The flip side is penalty killing: Philadelphia’s 80.6% PK is much stronger than Detroit’s 66.7%, so the special teams picture isn’t entirely one-sided.

Puck drop is at 7:30 pm ET from Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
