The 2023-24 season was the last ride for the four-team College Football Playoff before the big expansion next year. From August to January, we watched the playoff race take shape—some teams climbed the rankings while others fell out of contention.
The selection committee’s final choices sparked plenty of debate, especially about the undefeated teams. In the end, Michigan dominated Washington 34-13 to win the national championship in Houston.
All season long, oddsmakers kept adjusting each team’s playoff odds based on their performances. We tracked the average CFP playoff odds for the country’s top teams throughout the 2023-24 season.

- October 16: Washington is now one of the favorites to make the four-team CFP after taking down Oregon in Week 7 to remain undefeated. While the Huskies have +125 odds to make the playoff, Oklahoma (+160) and Ohio State (+170) aren’t far behind.
