How Does BetMGM Work?

BetMGM is a legal, state-licensed online sportsbook and casino operator overseen by BetMGM LLC, a prominent joint venture between MGM Resorts International and Entain plc. Unlike a prediction market exchange where users blindly trade contracts against each other, BetMGM takes bets directly as the house at its own posted odds, ensuring transparent futures prices and reliable payouts.

In practice, state licensing dictates that BetMGM must be rigorously approved and monitored by each individual state’s gaming regulator before taking action. Customers are required to be 21 years of age or older, and the platform utilizes strict geolocation technology to confirm the customer is physically inside an eligible state before any bet can be placed, while all player funds and bonus bets are held securely within an independently audited environment.

Where Can You Bet With BetMGM?

The BetMGM online sportsbook is currently live and actively accepting wagers in Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington D.C., West Virginia, and Wyoming. The platform is strictly unavailable in any state without legalized online sports betting, and your eligibility to place a wager depends entirely on your physical location at the exact time of the bet, rather than your permanent home address. Because the legal map keeps shifting as new states launch or as legislative challenges progress, availability should always be re-checked before looking for an edge. It does stand to reason that players should note the state distinction for this offer: customers in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia get the bet $10, win $150 path with the BetMGM Promo Code SBD150, while bettors in all other eligible states get the up-to-$1,500 first-bet offer utilizing the code SBD1500.

Our team independently tested and confirmed the BetMGM sign-up flow and promo code on October 20, 2026, verifying that the promotional bonuses credit exactly as described during the registration process. This welcome offer provides excellent strategic utility for this NBA matchup because your qualifying wager can be placed on any core market—such as the San Antonio Spurs covering the current -2.5 point spread—knowing that a losing first bet is returned as bonus bets up to $1,500 in most states (or capitalizing on the $150 bonus path in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia). From an operational standpoint, the BetMGM platform caters exceptionally well to basketball bettors through competitive same-game parlay pricing, highly responsive live betting interfaces, early cash-out options, and seamless integration into the MGM Rewards program. Eligible new customers looking to capitalize on these pricing inefficiencies should register and claim the appropriate promo code before the scheduled tipoff tonight.

The BetMGM Promo Code is SBD150 (MI, NJ, PA, WV) or SBD1500 (all other states). Entering the precise promo code during registration guarantees you activate the specific, odds-driven sign-up offer designated for your local region.

It depends on your state. Eligible bettors located in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia are strictly allocated the bet $10, win $150 bonus pathway, whereas new users in all other participating legal markets can claim the first-bet offer worth up to $1,500, with neither offer being available in jurisdictions lacking legalized online sports betting.

How much do I need to deposit to claim the offer?

$10. After successfully creating your new account and applying the appropriate state-specific promo code, a minimum initial deposit of ten dollars is required to activate the promotion and fund your bankroll.

Do the bonus bets expire?

Yes. These promotional funds are distributed as non-withdrawable credits rather than hard cash, and they will typically expire and be removed from your account if left unused within seven days.

Yes. You are fully encouraged to leverage your qualifying first wager on the matchup between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs, selecting from standard board offerings like the moneyline, the point spread, or the Over/Under total.
