  • Week 8 brings an early look at college football player props across a pair of SEC matchups
  • I am targeting a quarterback and two ball carriers coming off big performances last Saturday
  • See below for my early CFB Week 8 player props and best bets to target

Week 8 of the college football season is lining up nicely for player props, and I am not waiting for the full board to settle before setting my numbers. Three players stand out after strong outings last weekend, and each lands in a matchup that fits how he is being used right now.

LSU visits Auburn for a noon ET kickoff on ABC Saturday, and that SEC showdown supplies two of my three targets. Tennessee at South Carolina rounds out the card, with recent workloads and individual production shaping the numbers I want to target.

Below, I break down my early Week 8 CFB player props, with an estimated target for each one. Compare them against the college football player props board once lines start to post.

Early College Football Player Props for Week 8

MatchupPlayerEstimated Target
LSU at AuburnSam Leavitt, LSUOver 249.5 Passing Yards
Tennessee at South CarolinaDeSean Bishop, TennesseeOver 89.5 Rushing Yards
LSU at AuburnByrum Brown, AuburnOver 54.5 Rushing Yards

All three numbers are estimated targets I have set, not posted sportsbook lines, so there are no prices attached yet. The key takeaway is that each player cleared his target comfortably last Saturday. Once props hit the college football odds board, compare every line to these targets, whether you are shopping an existing book or opening a new account with a BetMGM promo code.

CFB Prop Best Bet #1: Sam Leavitt Passing Yards, LSU at Auburn

  • Pick: Sam Leavitt Over 249.5 Passing Yards (Estimated Target)

Sam Leavitt enters this LSU vs. Auburn matchup in a clear rhythm. He completed 31 of 38 passes for 289 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in Saturday’s 31-0 shutout of No. 16 Mississippi State, clearing my 249.5 target with room to spare.

That was not a one-off ceiling game, either. Last month, Leavitt went 17-for-23 for 312 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-6 rout of No. 23 Texas A&M, proving he can get past 300 yards on limited volume. That efficiency is why I am comfortable setting the target here.

A road SEC environment always adds some risk, but Leavitt has shown he can push the ball downfield efficiently against quality opponents. If LSU’s passing game carries the same rhythm into Auburn, I expect him to clear 249.5 yards with ease. Before making any wager this week, scan the college football betting apps to find the best price.

CFB Prop Best Bet #2: DeSean Bishop Rushing Yards, Tennessee at South Carolina

  • Pick: DeSean Bishop Over 89.5 Rushing Yards (Estimated Target)

DeSean Bishop is carrying the Tennessee ground game right now. He ran 32 times for 159 yards and two touchdowns against Alabama on Saturday, marking his third straight 100-yard performance. That stretch gives this target a strong foundation.

The workload is what sells me. Thirty-two carries is a true feature-back load, and at that volume Bishop only needs about 2.8 yards per carry to clear 89.5. He averaged roughly five yards per carry against Alabama, a National Championship odds contender, which leaves plenty of cushion even if his share dips slightly.

My Tennessee vs. South Carolina prediction leans on that volume holding up on the road. As long as the Volunteers keep feeding him the way they have during this three-game run, I like Bishop to clear the target.

CFB Prop Best Bet #3: Byrum Brown Rushing Yards, LSU at Auburn

  • Pick: Byrum Brown Over 54.5 Rushing Yards (Estimated Target)

Byrum Brown just delivered the type of dual-threat performance that makes this rushing target attractive. In Auburn’s road win over Georgia on Saturday, Brown ran 26 times for 115 yards and a touchdown while completing 15 of 26 passes for 150 yards and another score.

Twenty-six carries is a heavy rushing load for a quarterback, and it shows how central his legs are to Auburn’s plan. He also played turnover-free football, which keeps drives alive and the carries coming. My 54.5 target sits at less than half of what he produced against Georgia.

Auburn enters 4-2 and hosts a 5-2 LSU team whose defense just posted a 31-0 shutout of Mississippi State. That makes this a tougher spot, but a mobile quarterback is often the best answer to a defense that takes away easy throws. Of my three targets, this is the one I trust most.
