Plans for a new Massachusetts sports betting facility are on the way. Raynham Park and Caesars Sportsbook have agreed to a partnership that will see the sports betting operator open a 30,000-square-foot retail sportsbook at the simulcast racing facility.

According to a Caesars press release, Caesars Sportsbook and Raynham Park are making plans for a temporary sportsbook inside the current simulcasting facility before beginning construction on a standalone sportsbook. All of this is contingent on approval from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC).

Retail and Online Sports Betting at Raynham Park

If approved by the MGC, construction will begin on a standalone 30,000-square-foot sportsbook at Raynham Park, which will be one of the largest standalone sports betting and pari-mutuel simulcasting facilities in the country.

“Caesars Sportsbook is the strongest retail sports gaming brand in the industry and we are extremely proud to announce our partnership,” said Raynham Park owner Chris Carney. “Our sportsbook will be one of the largest sports gaming destinations not only in Massachusetts, but in the United States. With Caesars’ legendary commitment to quality and integrity, Raynham Park will be a world-class venue that will set a new standard for gaming in Massachusetts.”

Caesars Sportsbook Massachusetts will handle Raynham Park’s retail sports betting program. The simulcasting facility is currently waiting on approval from the MGC for its partnership with bet365 for its online sports betting services.

Eric Hession, President of Caesars Digital, celebrated the partnership and touted Raynham Park’s history in the commonwealth.

“Raynham Park is in an excellent location in southeast Massachusetts and will be one of just a few retail sports betting locations in the Commonwealth,” Hession said in a release. “It’s great to partner with the Carney family, which has a long history in the community and an exciting vision for a tremendous sports entertainment and pari-mutuel simulcasting facility. We look forward to showcasing the Caesars commitment to world-class experiences through this partnership.”

Retail Sports Betting on Its Way

Massachusetts retail sports betting is a little more than a week out, as the state will launch on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 10 a.m. Raynham Park’s retail sportsbook will not be ready to launch next week, a Caesars representative confirmed.

The state’s three casinos, Plainridge Park Casino, Encore Boston Harbor, and MGM Springfield, will be able to open their retail sportsbooks on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 10 a.m., two weeks ahead of Super Bowl LVII.

The MGC has issued Category 1 retail sports betting licenses to all three casinos in the last month. Plainridge Park Casino has partnered with Barstool Sportsbook Massachusetts to run its retail facility, Encore Boston Harbor has partnered with WynnBET to run its retail sportsbook, and MGM Springfield has partnered with BetMGM Massachusetts to run its retail sportsbook.

Each sportsbook will undergo a soft launch on Monday, Jan. 30, with only staff and invited guests allowed to place bets at each sportsbook. If everything goes well, a full launch for each sportsbook will then commence on Tuesday, Jan. 31.

Each Massachusetts Gaming Commissioner will attend a different sportsbook’s soft launch event and sign off on the facility if everything passes muster.
