theScore has been operating in Canada for many years, known once as a sports media broadcast station, and more recently as an app for finding news and scores on all of your favorite sports.

With legal sports betting rapidly expanding across North America, theScore was purchased for $2 billion by Penn National Gaming last year in August 2021. On Monday, a brand new theScore Bet app launched to allow Canadian sports bettors to bet on all of their favorite teams and sports.

theScore Bet Launches in Ontario

theScore Bet is excited to launch in Canada’s most populous province. In fact, given the size of the province, it would rank as the fifth-largest US state, meaning Ontario is set to be a huge player in the sports betting and iGaming markets.

The sportsbook will be one of 15 operators expected to launch in the Great White North in the coming weeks in the launch of Canada sports betting. The original theScore app is known as one of the top apps for sports news and scores in the industry.

It’s important to note that theScore Bet is a new app. It’s not the same app you may have been using for the past number of years. New customers will need to go to the Google Play or Apple stores to download the new theScore Bet app for their Android or Apple devices.

New customers downloading theScore Bet app can look forward to a similar experience to the standard app. Simplicity and ease of navigation are two big positives. The company has been promoting the app’s “Get Into Bet Mode” which allows users to create their own bet slip, view live odds and markets and so much more all within the app.

With Penn National as the parent company, which also owns Barstool Sportsbook, you may see some cross-promotions with some of the most well-known Barstool personalities. But you’ll also see some famous Canadian faces on the app such as Gerry Dee (actor, comedian), Rex Lee (Entourage) and Susie Essman (Curb Your Enthusiasm).
