This is a classic crossroads fight between an unbeaten surging champion and a savvy veteran who has been there and done that with a true who’s who.

Conor Benn’s Path to a World Title

Conor Benn aims to garner the fifth defense of his WBA hardware. A crown that he has worn for exactly three years to the very day of this writing. Benn bested Cedrick Peynaud on July 28th, 2018 in a prizefight for the then-vacant title.

Leading into this weekend’s fistic fireworks, Benn has verbatim referred to Granados as a stepping stone on his way to the top.

The Destroyer last got out there in April and scored a blistering first-round TKO victory over Samuel Vargas.

Conor Benn is a generational competitor, son of acclaimed 90’s world middleweight and super-middleweight Nigel, who is beginning to carve out his own individual path.

He is poised to make some big legacy moves should he get the desired outcomes in subsequent fights. But Benn cannot overlook Adrian Granados and the immediate test that lies in front of him.

Adrian Granados’ Veteran Resume

Adrian Granados is a thirty-plus fight veteran who has tested skills with the likes of Danny Garcia, Shawn Porter, Adrien Broner, and Kermit Cintron to name a few.

He is going into quote-unquote enemy territory for this one as the game warrior takes on the UK-based Benn on his home turf.

It’s worth noting that Granados is absolutely no stranger to playing the role of spoiler and notching emphatic upset victories.

While his 66 percent knockout rate is solid, the truly remarkable bit of context is that all of Benn’s stoppage wins have come inside the first four rounds.

Granados will need to tap into all of the savvy veteran tricks he has and box intelligently in the first four frames and try to pick Benn apart in the mid to later rounds.

Ultimately, I think that this one will encroach on that final bell and the judges’ scorecards will play a role in this bout outcome.

Benn’s last fight ended via stoppage in less than 90 seconds over a well-regarded pugilist in Vargas. It’s hard to ignore a highlight-reel finish like that but it’s also hard to ignore the durability of Granados.

Adrian Granados is a sweet science practitioner who has only been finished a single time across his eight total career defeats.

I think there’s value in pursuing a prop bet on this fight going the distance (+275). Also, I think it’s a good bet to seek out the prop on Benn winning via decision or technical decision (+300).

Pick: Conor Benn (-1600)
