Khalid Yafai vs Norbelto Jimenez Odds

Norbelto Jimenez | +635 |
*Odds taken 06/25/19
Yafai vs Jimenez pits a sitting titlist with a spotless record (Yafai) against an intriguing challenger (Jimenez) with more experience. Yafai has been shaking things up in his weight division and has been breathing new life into his class. This UK vs Dominican Republic prize fight has an international flair with both men being largely unfamiliar to domestic audiences. But this but will change that and provide a great showcase for both.
Yafai is firmly focused on the opponent in front of him. However, many in the boxing community are clamoring for Yafai to get a big fight. Names like Roman Gonzalez and IBF title holder Jerwin Ancajas are coming up as prospective opponents. With the promotional backing of Eddie Hearn, these kind of compelling prize fights can very well come to fruition soon. Yafai has a lot of star potential and has a nation behind him.

Both men have collected some notable hardware in their respective parts of the globe. They’re also clearly purveyors of the fine aspects of the sweet science. It reflects in their respective accomplishments.

I think the groundwork is laid for this to be a statement Khalid Yafai performance. Yafai has the resume and with the recent move to perform domestically, is ready to jettison towards boxing stardom. Jimenez has 190 rounds under his belt and knows some tricks of the trade. I just doubt it will do enough to derail Yafai. I have Khalid retaining the WBA Super Flyweight Championship all day.
Pick: Khalid Yafai (-850)
