Berchelt vs Sosa emanates from Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The WBC world super featherweight championship is on the line in this title tilt. Berchelt looks to defend his hardware for the seventh time with Sosa assuming the role of challenger.
The card has some fun fights all around but it’s understandable why Berchelt vs Sosa is getting so much attention. The event will broadcast live this weekend on ESPN. The odds for this prizefight and my analysis of the bout can be found below.
Berchelt vs Sosa Odds
Fighter | Odds |

Miguel Berchelt | -5000 |
Jason Sosa | +1400 |
Odds taken October 29, 2019
Berchelt enters this fight on the heels of four consecutive stoppage wins with a dual number one ranking distinction from ESPN.com and Ring Magazine. Sosa has won his last three, has held a WBA world championship, and has competed with the best in the world.
He has rebounded from losses to Yuriorkis Gamboa as well as Vasiliy Lomachenko and Sosa is poised for another crack at world championship glory. Berchelt has held the gold for almost three years and I believe he’ll continue to after things go down on November 2nd.
Berchelt Extends Win Streak to 16
Both men have been professional pugilists for close to a decade now. Berchelt absolutely has the momentum here and while Sosa isn’t just some warm body, this does read like a ‘stay busy’ fight. Sosa is ranked in the top ten by a couple of reputable bodies but this doesn’t compare to someone who can make the case for being the best super featherweight presently.
Berchelt’s lone career loss happened in the first quarter of 2019 and has finished all but one of his opponents through that five-year unbeaten run.

A curious question is how long Berchelt will stay in the super featherweight division though. He was initially supposed to fight on the Fury-Wallin undercard in September but Berchelt needed additional time to make the weight limit. I think he’ll eventually follow suit with former divisional peer Gervonta Davis and move up.
Berchelt is not even 30 and stands to grow that much more into his physical frame in the next few years. He has mentioned fights with either Lomachenko and/or Valdez while Bercelt has also teased a move up to 135 lbs as early as next year.
Berchelt vs Sosa Tale of the Tape
36-1 | Record | 23-3-4 |

In addition, Berchelt also has a KO rate of 89-percent. That knockout percentile coupled with the fact he has a four-inch reach advantage spells out a bad night for Sosa. I think Berchelt scores a stoppage victory inside of nine rounds.
