Kansas is a 3.5-point home favorite against Texas in a series that has swung in the Longhorns’ favor after a long period of Jayhawk dominance. Texas is 3-1 SU and and 2-1-1 ATS in the last four games in the series, a streak that began with the Longhorns’ 84-59 victory in Lawrence on Jan. 2, 2021 that tied the most lopsided victory by any opponent in the 67-year history of Allen Fieldhouse. Kansas was 13-1 SU and 7-7 ATS in the previous 14 games.

Kansas is 9-14 ATS this season, 4-8 ATS at home. Texas is 10-13 ATS, 3-3 ATS on the road. Both teams are more likely to go over the total. The Longhorns are 12-8-3 against the “over,” and Kansas is 13-10.
Texas Leads Rugged Big 12
The Longhorns conclude their two game stay in the Sunflower state in Lawrence after a 69-66 win Saturday at No. 7 Kansas State, which ended a stretch of five of seven games on the road that included three AP Top 10 teams. The balanced Longhorns have beaten five AP Top 25 teams this season and have established themselves as a slight favorite to win the regular season title in the ultra-competitive Big 12.

Physical 6’7″ forward Christian Bishop scored all 14 points of his in the second half against Kansas State, and he stepped up at both ends in the final minute. His layup gave the Longhorns a 67-66 lead with 39 seconds remaining, and he had a blocked shot and a steal on the WIldcats’ next two possessions.
Guard Marcus Carr (16.4 points. 4.0 assists) leads four Longhorns scoring in double figures, and sixth man/shooting guard Sir’Jabari Rice (11.1 points) has 56 points in the last three games, his best stretch of the season. He had a 16/10 double-double Saturday.
Kansas Hits a Mini-Skid
Kansas has struggled during the most difficult stretch of its season — it is 3-4 SU amd 2-5 ATS in the last seven, six against ranked Big 12 opponents and the other at Kentucky. After Texas, the Jayhawks’ schedule lightens appreciably, with only one team (Baylor) of its next six likely to be ranked before a rematch against the Longhorns in Austin to close the regular season.
All-American candidate Jalen Wilson had 26 points in a 68-53 loss at Iowa State on Saturday, but he did not get much help. The Jayhawks committed a season-high 20 turnovers and shot only 38.6 percent from the field. Wing Gradey Dick (14.2 points, 5.0 rebounds) and guard Kevin McCullar (10.3 points, 7.9 rebounds) are the complementary scoring threats behind Wilson (21.5 points, 8.6 rebounds), who has at least 20 points in the last six games.

The Jayhawks are not overly big or physical, and they had trouble defending the high pick-and-roll against Iowa State bigs 6’10″Osun Osunniyi and burly 6’7″ Tre King , who were 11 of 15 from the floor Saturday, mostly on rolls to the basket. The Cyclones scored 34 points in the paint, and Kansas was not within double-figures in the final 13 minutes.
Texas vs Kansas Prediction
Kansas is the youngest team in the Big 12 in terms of game experience, and its youth is showing. The Jayhawks have had a hard time pushing the pace this season, always a program strength. Not much separates these teams, but the Jayhawks responded with a decisive victory over Kansas State in their last home game and they will rebound again this time at home.
