Shelton carries the hopes of the home crowd as he tries to end the drought for American men at the US Open. Zverev, who won his first career Grand Slam title earlier this year at Roland Garros, has opened as a slight favorite over Shelton, who will be playing in his first Grand Slam final.

Both men were among the top four in the US Open odds prior to the tournament, alongside outright favorite Carlos Alcaraz and living legend Novak Djokovic. Zverev was roughly +300 with Shelton at +1050.
