I’m backing Air Force to cover. The Falcons have averaged 35:52 in possession through two games, while Nevada has averaged 26:45 through three. If Air Force can keep moving the chains, Nevada’s defense faces a long night of defending the option.

Ball security is the other reason I prefer the visitors. Nevada quarterback Carter Jones threw an interception and lost a fumble against Middle Tennessee. Giving Air Force extra possessions would make it much harder for the Wolf Pack to keep the margin inside a touchdown.

Liam Szarka’s rushing role is central to the Falcons’ approach. Against North Dakota State, he carried 21 times for 88 yards and a touchdown, while completing five of 10 passes for 103 yards. Nevada needs to tackle the quarterback consistently without losing track of the other option runners.

The bye gave Air Force extra preparation time, but its last performance was not flawless. Allowing 38 points to North Dakota State is a reason to keep expectations measured. I’m betting on a matchup advantage, not assuming the Falcons can shut Nevada down.
