Week 3 features an in-state showdown between the South Florida Bulls and the Miami Hurricanes. No.18 USF (2-0) is riding high off back-to-back wins over ranked teams while No.5 Miami (2-0) looks to bolster its CFP chances. Miami plays host at 4:30 ET on Saturday, September 13th, on a CW Network broadcast.

USF vs Miami Prediction & Pick

• Under 56.5 (-110 on FanDuel)

USF is the story of the season. Beginning the season unranked, they blew out ranked Boise State in Week 1 before going to Gainesville to shock a top-20 Florida team. Quarterback Byrum Brown has been a lightning rod for the Bulls thus far. He had two bowling ball touchdowns Week 1, and he had over 320 total yards last week against the Gators.

Keshaun Singleton has been on the receiving end of two big-play touchdowns already. He had a 45-yard touchdown on a trick play versus Boise State and a 66-yard touchdown to give the Bulls the lead versus Florida. Running back Alvon Isaac has been a two-way threat for the Bulls. So far, he has 13 touches for 152 yards.

Georgia transfer Carson Beck has been sharp under center for the Canes. He leads the ACC with a 77.8% completion rate, and he has 472 yards and four touchdowns in two starts. Beck already has a pair of 3,000-yard seasons under his belt, and he is in the 2025 Heisman conversation.

Miami has a two-headed monster in the backfield. Mark Fletcher Jr. leads the team in rushes (26) and yards (152) while CharMar Brown has tacked on 104 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Two receivers also stand above: Malachi Toney and CJ Daniels. Toney leads the team with 12 catches and 162 yards. Daniels has already hauled in a conference-leading three touchdowns.

However, the player to watch Saturday afternoon is defensive lineman Rueben Bain Jr. Bain already has 1.5 sacks, two tackles for a loss, two forced fumbles, and an interception. No player in college football has played more snaps and posted a higher PFF grade than Bain’s 93.7 grade across 81 snaps.

I am backing the under in this contest. So far, the under has hit in both of USF’s games, and it hit last week in the Miami game. The over did hit in Miami’s Week 1 game against Notre Dame, but the other Miami and USF games have been unders by at least 16 points.

Closing USF vs Miami Betting Lines

The oddsmakers have Miami as a home favorite with the total at 56.5. Over bettors should take the DraftKings line of over 56.5 at -108 odds. Under bettors should take the FanDuel line of under 56.5 at -110 odds.

Miami bettors can get the Hurricanes at -17.5 on the spread at FanDuel (-105 odds) or -752 on the moneyline at DraftKings. Tennessee bettors can get the Bulls at +17.5 on the spread at DraftKings (-110 odds) or +600 on the moneyline at BetMGM.

USF vs Miami Previous Matchups

This will be the eighth matchup between USF and Miami. Miami  holds a 6-1 advantage, winning the last four matchups. Five of the Canes’ six wins have come by at least 20 points, including a 35-point beatdown last season.

USF held a 15-14 lead in last year’s contest, but Miami scored the last 36 points. Future No.1 pick Cam Ward tossed a trio of touchdowns in the comeback win while seventh-round pick Damien Martinez ran for three touchdowns and added a two-point conversion. On the USF side, quarterback Byrum Brown caught a touchdown in an otherwise mediocre performance.
